School Trip

My kindy planned for a trip to a factory and to Taiping Zoo this Saturday. Since we’re going, my friend suggested that her kindy will join in as well. It’s ok with us as each kindy school teachers will have to take care of our own children but we’ll help each other out to overlook the other kids as well.
But when I received the list from the other kindy, I was shock. There’re only 7 children are going, but 8 adults! Of coz, 4 of them are teachers, but the other 4 are a couple (parents), a mother, and a maid (parents sent their maid to go with the child).
I truly understand that as a parent, we’ll always be worried about our children’s safety, especially if they’re going somewhere without us. We’ll be even worried since they’re only aged 3 - 8 years old. However, most schools in oversea will also hold school trips for young children as a way of learning how to be dicipline, responsible, follow instruction, and learn something new outdoor.
The main reasons why I want to have this trip is to expose the children on how mineral water is made at the factory, and of coz, look at REAL animals, not only from books. My children haven’t been to a factory before, and even though they know well what is mineral water, but I’d like them to see how it’s been processed and bottled.
This semester, the children are learning more about animals, but I found out that some of them haven’t been to zoo, and they don’t even know how to differenciate monkeys from orang utan. The children have been very excited about the trip when we announced a month ago, but we also would them to recognise some of the animals first before going. So teachers have been doing hard work of showing them the pictures, clips, and also teaching them about the sounds and youngs of animals. The teachers have also trained my children to queue up in partners and in sequence, so that the children remember their partners and hold their hands at all time. We also arranged the chairs like the train at the zoo, and pretended a train ride, so that the children know where and when to board and come down from the train. They’re also been taught not to feed the animals, touch the cages, stand on train and bus, and what to do if they’re lost. It’s really a training for both children and teachers. Last week, my children walked in pairs to the playground in the neighbourhood, played for a while, and walked a big round back. They’re so obedient as they understand how important it is to be dicipline and follow instructon.
I told the other kindy about this training too, and hopefully it’s been carried. But looking at the list, I know it’s hard to make the children follow our ways. And what really puzzles me is some parents really send a maid to accompany the child to school trip. That’s something I didn’t expect.
