Wedding Dinner

It’s Justin’s second wedding dinner. He attended the first one when he’s 7 weeks old, and it’s easier to take care of him then because he slept thru the dinner. Last night, however, he’s very sleepy before we left for the wedding. He’s very grumpty, see?

Before the dinner started, hubby and I had to take him out from the restaurant and let him nap for a while in the car. No choice, it’s too noisy at the restaurant, and he’s crying out loud. He doesn’t like to sleep in pram too. Luckily the dinner started late, as usual, most chinese wedding dinners start late. After taking a few minutes nap, we brought him in again. He’s feeling better and willing to smile.

So, as we’re having our food, I kept his mouth occupied with bread. He’ll cry if everyone’s eating except him. Then when fish was served, I fed him with “tao dai” without the sauce and he loves it. That’s the only food served he can take.

This is the first time he saw daddy singing on stage, and he’s amused!

Well, at least he’s not too grumpty last night, considering how sleepy he is. There’s another dinner next week at Genting, hopefully Justin’ll “behave” well. Worse come to worse, if he’s too sleepy and difficult, then I’ll just leave early and let him sleep in the room.

Pregnant Women Look Ugly?

I haven’t been to gynae’s clinic so frequent before. From last week, I had visited my gynae four times, just every 2 days. Of coz, first 3 times because can’t find my fetus (one of the times I went to other clinic), the forth happenned today. Gave myself a shock when I had a show last night, but it turned out harmless to my baby, so I don’t have to talk or think much about it. This is not what I’m gonna blog.

It’s just that I saw sooooo many pregnant women these days, I can’t help thinking are we women feel good about our pregnant looks? Well, during the last trimester, with a bulky tummy and big butt, it’s hard to be fashionable. Most women will just dressed in comfortable loose maternity dress, that’s what I saw during those visits.

I rememberred when I was pregnant with Justin, I asked my hubby does he think that I looked ugly? He said I was carrying a life in me, and assured me that I looked perfect. That time I was too excited with my first baby, I also didn’t care much about my look. In fact, I think I look good.

I’m not saying that pregnant women look ugly, but it’s the way we dressed ourselves during pregnancy which doesn’t show the beauty of being pregnant. After seeing those pregnant women, I have concluded that no matter how big my tummy will be or how much weight I’ll gain this time, I’ll make sure I look as good as possible. Here’s the plan:

1. Don’t wear maternity clothes too soon. I’ll look thru my closet and try to fit in my regular clothes as long as possible to look “young and fresh”. Even though I’m not young and fresh.

2. Get a nice pair of shoes.OMG, almost every pregnant woman wears sandals, and I’m not talking about classy fashionable types. They’re those sandals you’re wear to pasar malam, and very comfortable types. So, I just bought myself a pair of flat heel shoes, it’s pink!

3. Wear make up, if possible, when going out.Ok, with morning sickness, heartburns, lack of sleep (happenned to me), bigger face (got fat), the last thing on my mind is make up. I don’t use make up regularly, but I think in order not to scare people with my pale and “chan” look, at least put on some foundation. And trim my eyebrows!

4. Maintain good posture.I admit I waddled like a duck last time during last trimester. My friends said I walked differently, but I didn’t care much that time. This time, I’ll make sure not to walk with my legs open, feet facing out, and tug out my bump. Have to maintain good posture and walk normally. This is hard, I know. But hopefully I’ll make it.

5. Get nice maternity clothes. This will only happen if I have extra cash lah. Saw those nice clothes online, and gatal to get them. But I’ll stick to Step 1 first for as long as possible.

Well, anything elso to add? Mmmmm….

Crawling

See the rosy cheeks and reddish lips? Justin’s not on make up, but that’s the red swollen right cheek and lips he got after bumping his face on the floor on his attempt to crawl.
He’s been trying to crawl for a few days, and finally knows that he should lift up his tummy and be on fours before making his move. But he still doesn’t know how to coordinate his hands and legs, and sometimes he’ll off balance and fall.
Yesterday, he hit his forehead and got himself a condo. Today, his hit on his right cheek and lips, and got swollen pinkish cheek and a bleeding upper lip.
MIL said better don’t let him learn how to crawl as he’s injured himself. But I think he’s getting better at it, and getting hurt sometimes should not stop him from going mobile. Just that I need to be more careful and faster in catching him if he’s falling again.
Well, after he has master crawling, the whole house is a dangerous and exciting place for him to explore. Better start child-proofing my house.

Flying Kite

It’s winding this evening. Hubby took out a kite and tried to fly it. Probably due to inexperience, he took a while before successfully flying up the kite in the sky. See how high it is?

Justin was excited as this is the first time he “played” with kite, even though only touching the string lah.

When’s the last time you or your kids play kites? These days not many kids have a chance to play things like what we parents used to play, like flying kites. Maybe I’m quite old-fashioned. I’ll try to introduce Justin to some games that I used to play when I was young, when he’s grown up.

Visiting Ob-Gynae

Oh boy, I spent whole morning waiting at a famous gynae’s clinic for my first check up here. I used to go to my regular gynae, but since he said stopped breastfeeding immediately, which is impossible for Justin and I, I thought I might just go for second opinion. Actually, I just need some reassurance, I already had lots of support from moomies at mymomsbest and read up some materials.
There must be more than 30 patients awaiting for their turns. Worst still, none of us can go to the toilet before ultrasonic scan, as a full bladder will give a more accurate scan. So, you can see some ladies sitting uneasily on the chairs while biting their lips! It’s really funny. I talked to some of them, all of us can’t wait to use the toilet!
While waiting here, I saw a new mother breastfeeding her newborn. It’s really touching whenever I see someone doing it in public. But at the same time, other mothers also using formula and bottles, so it’s really sad to see it since it’s a baby-friendly-initiated hospital.
The maternity ward’s sister came in to talk to some expectant mums. She’s encouraging them to breastfeed. I approached her, and she still recognized me. Talked to her about my concern in weaning off too soon, and she said it’s ok to breastfeeding during pregnancy. But still, doctor’s advice is most accurate, better talk to the gynae first. I caught a few mothers’ attention during this conversation, they must think that I’m crazy to breastfeed my baby until now and even thought to do so when I’m expecting.
Finally, when I talked to the doc, he said it’s risky. He said breastfeeding is the best to baby, but tried to wean off slowly since I’m expecting. He already advised me, but it’s up to me what to do. Well, at least he didn’t force me to stop soon.
The other reason why I see him is that the previous doc can’t find my fetus / sac yet. So I told him my concern of having ectopic pregnancy. Luckily he found a very small sac, and can’t confirm yet. Got to re-scan again next week. At least I felt better knowing that the baby is implanted in my uterus. That got me worried for a while.
When it’s time to pay, OMG, it’s almost triple the fees I’m paying to my regular gynae. But still this famous gynae has so many patients, which means fame equals to money too. Judging from the cost, I think I’ll stick to the old doc.
