Before Justin can talk, hubby kept teaching him to say “papa” since newborn, and hopes to hear Justin say “papa” as soon as possible. His wish has granted as “papa” is Justin first word. I was quite kiasu as Justin only started saying mommy after one year old, and felt jeslous about this sometimes.

Now, both of us think that “mommy” and “papa” are quite irritating words at moments like these:

Situation 1:
Me: *Busy nursing Isabelle lying down*
Justin: Mommy, mommy, come come come….
Me: Let mommy finish feeding mei mei first ok, darling?
Justin: No, mommy…mommy… lai lai…come…come… *drag me hands some more*
Me: *Trying hard to get up from lying down position with Isabelle still latching on* Can you wait for a while?
Justin: No…come now…
Yikes, so mah fan to get up, and also had to carry Isabelle who’s still nursing. Well, you try to do that and you know what I meant! It’s not easy getting up from that position.

Situation 2:
Hubby: *Still in dreamland* Zzzz….
Justin: Papa, papa, milk milk…
Hubby: Huh? Milk milk *then zzz…*
Justin: Papa papa….*cry cry* papa papa….
Hubby: Ok, papa make. *Wear glasses, get up to make milk*
Justin: *Finish milk* Papa papa…finish.
Hubby: Zzz….oh….
Justin: Papa, read book.
Hubby: Huh? Go to sleep boy.
Justin: No, papa read book (it’s in the middle of the night). Read book…papa papa…
Hubby: Ok…Zzz…bla bla….*read book*

But still, how to resist these 2 special words from our boy? 心肝情愿…

Zara always shout “Daddy wake up” when she’s up earlier than Daddy.. luckily she doesn’t do that to me. Haha..

  4. totally agree with u. When they don’t know how to call you , you always wish they will call you. But once they get it, it’s really trouble times :P

  5. I waited 2.5 yrs before RE called me Mama for the first time and that is a year after he started calling daddy. (wait until neck long ady and not to mention of course jealous lah)

Now, sometimes mama, ah mi or mami can be quite irritating to be heard when my hands are full. So I could identify with your post.

  6. Ya,ya, agree!
I felt annoying sometimes too when Jo kept calling me. So irony! I scared he couldn’t talk, but now i feel very noisy when he speaks non-stop.

  7. Hmmm…does boy always call ‘papa’ first instead of ‘mama’? I have the feeling that my boy will call his favourite ‘papa’ first.

  8. i believe that’s what we called ’sweet burden’, haha.

  9. Papa Mommy…Papa Mommy…
    Papa Mommy…Papa Mommy…
    Papa Mommy…Papa Mommy…

    Papa Mommy…Papa Mommy…
    Papa Mommy…Papa Mommy…
    Papa Mommy…Papa Mommy…
    Papa Mommy…Papa Mommy…
    Papa Mommy…Papa Mommy…

    Traumatized? LOL.

  10. hhmmm… we have yet to hear those words so won’t know how irritating it’s going to be… :P

Saw your blog from Clumsy Wife (Elaine) blog…

  11. Blur blur, gosh, I hope he won’t stop too. But if he can just WAIT and postpone at times like that, won’t that be good? :P

Sasha, not only kacau during nursing, kacau at bathing, eating, putting on makeup….Got the idea? Wait for yours! :)

Zara’s mama, yes my boy’s the same too! And he always wakes up Isabelle, but the poor girl will cry as she still wants to sleep. That’s part of the morning routine now.

Jazzmint, when he didn’t call me, I was worrying, and now that he does, I get irritated sometimes. I’m so hard to be pleased. Ha!

WMD, wow, that’s a long wait! I know what you meant, my neck was long too…

Hui Sia, haha…He got you worried too? Boys really talk slower than girls, generally. But now he’s so talkative huh? :)

Babykhong, most boys I know talk slower than girls. But don’t worry, try teaching him call mama first before daddy tries it!

Greenapple, you’re right! It’s sweet burden indead.

    Jason, I’m traumatised already….
