Rojak Language
Justin talks a lot lately. He’ll imitatate what we say and repeat the sentences as close as he can. But the thing is, he starts to talk “rojak” language these days. And he likes to use words like “already” and “remember”.
Me: Did you take lunch just now?
Justin: Justin makan already…
Me: Makan? You mean eat?
Justin: Yes, Justin eat already…
Justin: Mommy, zoo…see monkey… remember?
Me: Yes we saw monkeys at the zoo.
Justin: Mommy, “zong nan”
Me: Huh? What? You mean Zen Nan, your friend?
Justin: No, zong nan, zong nan….
Me: Chong liang (bathing) is it?
Justin: Yes, bathe, zhong liang!
Justin: Mommy, naik atas.
Me: Go upstairs?
Justin: Yes, go upstairs, naik atas, “shang lou shang”.
Now, I need to listen to him carefully as he doesn’t promounce Chinese and Malay well yet. Sometimes I’m also confused with what he’s trying to say.
He likes to look at the photo albums and talk about places we went or things we did. When he sees the beach at Pangkor, he’ll say “pak pak” as he’s afraid of the waves, but he likes the sand. When he sees the aeroplane, he’ll sing.
Justin: Mommy, Justin sit aeroplane. Fly fly fly, aeroplane fly…eww….(making aeroplane sound)
Ahh…so cute!

tht’s the thing about multi-lingual… but soon, they will sort this out themselves.
Zara speaks mostly English, but sometimes she likes to mix a bit of Malay or Chinese (but since she doesn’t know much Malay or Chinese so not many words she can sue).
