Anyone who knows my hubby knows that he’s a golfaholic. He NEEDS to play golf to release his stress, to stay fit and healthy (he said he’ll get sick if he doesn’t play), to hang out with his friends, to make business contact (yep, like I’ll believe this!!!), and etc.

The best reason given to me so far, not by him but his golf-buddy, was “would you prefer us to play golf, or women, or gambling?” So, I have nothing much to say about it.

Thru out the years we’re together, he’s never skip golfing for me, except for 2 days. The first time was the day I was admitted to the hospital, going to give birth to Justin (Good boy, Justin); and the 2nd one was giving birth to Isabelle on a Sunday morning. He told baby Isabelle (in my tummy) to wait until daddy finished golfing first then only come out, too bad I was admitted at midnight, so he had to cancel his game. Way to go Isabelle!!!

Do I get bothered with his addiction? Of coz I am, especially the time when I need him to be there. Other than giving birth, there’re still times when I feel like having him with me. Times like tea ceremony at wedding reception, he’ll be playing golf, while I have to “cam cha” alone, yikes, I really hate that!

But sometimes, I like golf. Not because I play the game, but I see it as a game anyone can play even if one gets older. Like my FIL who’s playing golf despite of approaching his 70 years. Of coz, there’re other sports which a senior citizen can participate in, and I think golf is one of them.

Besides that, it’s a good game for hubby and his dad to spend some time together. They’ll be playing 4 hours on an 18 hole game, so lots of catching up can be done at the time, since FIL seldom be at home since hubby’s young.

Hubby has this dream of having golfing vacation with us where we travel to different places and try out the golf courses. It’s an expensive dream, so we have to work for it. And I doubt my kids will like it too as not everyone likes to be in the sun for hours hitting a small ball into 18 holes! That I’ll have to leave it to hubby to “settle” it out!

BTW, not everyone who plays golf is super-rich. Hubby started playing while he’s working as an engineer, and you know how much an inexperienced engineer earns lah… It’s only a coincidence that he knew a bunch of gila golfing fellas and started to pick up the game. And some starters don’t even buy golf set, they share a set and practise at the golf range. Some bought 2nd hand set, which is much cheaper than 1st hand.

There’re also some showing off “golfers” who can’t play golf, but have all the gears and act like real golfers. They boasted on how good they are, but I had to hold back my temptation to laugh when I saw them practise at golf range. The swings were so hilarious!

Oh yes, I used to go to the range with hubby, during “pat toh” time. Really pathetic huh? Like got nothing to do….He’d practise while I sat there watching him / others, or I’d bring a book. Do I play? Yes, but just hitting the ball and make sure it’s swept off and fly in the air. That’s it!

Now, I stopped. Why? To prevent pre-mature skin aging. You should see my hubby’s face. Then you know why I stop, for the time being!

Mmm…why suddenly feel like blogging about golf? A sign of missing hubby, I guess.

  1. My hubby use to practise golf at the range too, he bought the 2nd hand set and share with his friends. Later, his friends all stop he also stop. Not even goes to the real golf field yet ler.

Your hubby is golfaholic my hubby is ‘gila’ to the online game. Both same same but just difference hobby. He also ask me the same question wheather i prefer him to hang out with the women or go pub with his friends wor.aiks..man still man.

  2. 1+2mom, ya loh, why men always use that question to answer our question about their hobbies huh? BTW, I like your icon. Your twins have really grown up. :)

  3. Dont know why, I always think that golf is a stupid game. You hit the ball, only to walk hundreds of metres later to chase after it.

Then again, I have tried golfing before. My brother gave me a started set so I just went and try it out at the range with some friends. But after a while, I get tired of it. Now, completely stopped. I know one thing for sure, my wife wouldnt want me to play golf.

  4. I hope my hubby never starts. For the time being, it is rather an expensive sports. But then again, so is fishing which is hubby’s hobby :P

  5. My hubby loves to play sports, he likes whatever sports you can name it. I don’t like about his hobby, sometimes i need him to take care the family but he prefers to play sports. He said the same “you prefer me to exercise more or go to pub or women?” So, what i can do is only speechless.
