Bruises

Coincidentally, both Isabelle and Justin have bruises on the same spot of their foreheads. Isabelle got it by banging a toy on herself, while Justin hit the wall when running and turning at the same time.
Normally, if my kids got bruises, I’ll use a cooler pad as cold compression first, and then only apply Zambud on Justin. But I don’t use any oilment for Isabelle as she’s still too young for any.
My mom said I’m careless in taking care of them as I let them “explore” freely, without warning them that they’ll fall down, hit against something, or help them to climb up the chair and etc. Most of the time, I’ll tell Justin the consequences if he’s jumping on the sofa or bed that he might fall down and hurt himself, but I still let him jump by watching him from the side. If he falls and cries, then I’ll check him out and comfort him.
My friends also disagree on the way I let my kids have their ways. They said I’d be sorry if it’s a serious injury, then have to go to the doctor, and burn a hole in my wallet. But I think that by stopping them from trying out their curiousity will only make them more curious about it and may do it behind my back. At least after trying it out for a while, Justin got bored and experiencing with something new.
My mum said she’s very protective over me and my brother. Both of us hardly got hurt when we’re little, but she has lost counts of how many times Justin has fallen down! Luckily, none of it is serious. But he really understands better at how to take good care of himself when he’s playing now. Yesterday, I even overheard him saying “Mei mei, no go (under) chair, you fall down (should be get hurt)” and when Isabelle’s trying to touch the socket, he said “Mei mei, no play, pain pain”.
He knows what’s dangerous and should not be treated as toys. Of coz, I’ll grab him away if he’s in a dangerous situation like walking near the drain. Which mommies won’t be “sam thong” seeing their kids getting hurt?
