Justin Likes School Now

The most anticipated stage 4 has arrived. Justin finally likes school! Yippie!

He doesn’t make excuses like before. And as long as we are not rushing him in the morning, he’s ok with going to school. He doesn’t like me to drive him to school now, and prefers MIL and Xin Yi. But he wants me to pick him up. So, it’s even better for me as I don’t have to rush him there, and can laze around at home!

The main reason why he likes school lately is that he gets goodies twice already in the past 3 weeks. He has friends celebrating their birthdays at school and brought cakes and goodies for all the children. Justin was so happy with the cake cutting event, and those junks he got!

The only thing is he still refuses to join the music class on Wednesdays. He rather play by himself than going to the music room. Maybe he prefers Kindermusik, but not Musikgarden.

She’s Going to be One

I’m still thinking about how I should compile her photos from the first day till now. Isabelle is going to be one years old next month, time really flies huh?

A day after I updated her 11 months development, she knows about to done the baby sign for “some more” when she’s asking for food. Sometimes, I just can’t help laughing when I caught her “practising” the sign when she’s playing by herself. Other than some more, she doesn’t do any signs yet, and will rather yell! LOL!

I’m not sure about how other mothers feel, but when my kids almost reach one year old, I wish that they won’t grow up so fast. Babyhood is really too short to me, only 1 year! After that, they will be walking, running, going to preschool and start to have a mini circle of friends!

I think that’s why we mommies keep blogs of our kids huh? To keep reminding ourselves of the little bits of our kids when they are younger…Gosh, why am I so sentimental today? LOL!

Oh ya, she likes playing with shapes later. But she still needs help to turn the box into the correct shapes and what she does is only putting them in it. She’s pretty good at circle and square, but not yet for star and triangle. I love to just sit there and watch her play. She looks likes she’s trying very hard!

Arh…My girl is so cute…. *self boasting mommy* LOL!

Watch Them Play

I like watching Justin and Isabelle play together. Justin has gone to another stage where he doesn’t feel Isabelle as a treat and more willing to share with her. Most of the time, he will tell me…

Justin: Don’t push mei mei, don’t bite mei mei, don’t beat mei mei.

He likes to tickle her while I’m nursing Isabelle. And Isabelle will turn and smile at him. It’s a distraction to her, but I like to see them play while she’s nursing.

Here is a clip taken on how Justin makes her laugh. It’s just a silly act between kids, but I love how they make each other laugh.

Some of My Blogs In Trouble!

So, Msau emailed me about why I didn’t have the mommy blogroll in all my blogs…Here’s why:

Mothering Corner: Something was wrong with the template. The header would show sometimes, and at times, it wouldn’t. Not only that, some of the widgets that I added in will make the blog “disappeared”. Ha! So, I removed all the blogrolls from it and left only blogrolling, and it worked. But I know that was not the solution. After searching high and low of the new blogger templates, I found one. I still prefer the old one with cute babies, but that gave me too much headache. So, I’ll settle with this template first as Google’s PR review is coming up, right ladies? :)

All about Beauty: The previous template did work well with the script, the alignment all gone. I changed the template again today, and my blog all gone! LOL! I felt like screaming, really….

update: One Blogger Mommy fixed for me already!!! Thanks!.

Shopping Mum: PPP rejected my post because the blog can’t be loaded. It’s fixed, so today, so far so good, no more problem and the blogroll are all up.

For the rest of the blogs, they are ok for the time being. I’m still searching for templates, and a bit busy updating the blogs or blogroll. But if I miss any of you (Miche, I remember :P ) please drop a comment here. Thanks!

Edited:
There is a lot of hype regarding europe destinations. Elite class in particular is not really bothered about getting cheap flights europe has to offer. It is the hoi polloi basically , which books flights to spain and car rental europe is so known about, well in advance. With them , stay as paid guests in cottages is much more ideal than reservations in amsterdam hotels.

Over the Weekend

Last Saturday, we had a mini birthday party at home. It’s Xin Yi’s 7th birthday celebrated a day earlier. MIL and SIL bought lots of rubbish food fast food from KFC and McDonald’s for the kids, and my boy was so happy munching the fries!

Everyone couldn’t wait to get a piece of that cake!

Right after hubby finished his golf, we headed straight to Penang on Sunday afternoon. The kids were very excited as they haven’t been back since CNY as my parents were renovating the house. My mum was afraid that Isabelle will be attacked by mosquitoes again, so she changed all the flooring from brown to white tiles, both upstairs and downstairs. All the walls were painted white, and the place really looks bigger. Funnily, we hardly see any mosquitoes in the house, and even if there is, the mosquitoes will be killed easily! Probably due to the brightness of the house that the mosquitoes have limited spots to hide.

After meeting up with my brother’s family, we went to Golden Triangle for dinner.

After the dinner, hubby went to meet up with his friends while the rest of us went for kiddie ride at the supermarket near my parents’ place. My kids will always come here to play with the kiddie ride almost everyday when they are in Penang.

So, it’s Monday today, but we are still here. Needless to say, my boy skipped school. :P

Isabelle: 11 months old

 Weight: 8 kg

I started reading Peter and Jane book 1a with her 2 weeks ago. That’s the book I started with Justin too. I was wondering if she likes it just like her brother. At first, she would rather play with the book and that’s pretty normal. But 2 days ago, she crawled to the book rack, “yee yaa yee yaa” pulling me along…

Me: You want a book?

Isabelle: Yee…woof (dog)

Me: Oh, you want Peter and Jane book, with the dog?

I took out the book and she crawled and sat on my lap (she’s good at this now). I started reading with her, and she could follow for 10 pages, then only she started playing with the book. That’s a great achievement to me. :) And whenever I mentioned the word dog, or she saw the picture, she will point to the dog and say “woof”. So, “woof” is her favourite word now.

She likes to see the chickens and the dogs next door. Almost every evening, I will bring her and Justin for walks round the house, and we will stop by the fence to watch the chickens. She will be very excited when she sees them. Besides that, she likes watching birds too. My maid will place the expired cakes or bread in a big pan, and place it outside the house. The birds have already got used to it, and they will be waiting for her to feed them. Once the birds fly in, Isabelle will wave her hands excitedly, and looks really cute.

She’s still cruising, and likes to to climb onto the bed and sofa now. She knows how to come down from the bed and sofa, but we still need to watch her closely. She fell down from the bed once and scared the hell out of me. But she’s ok, stopped crying after a while and tried again! One tough girl huh?

I reminded my maid over and over again, if I’m not around and she needs to do something, better place her in the playpen. Once, she almost fell off from the highchair as she managed to escape from the strap. Then there’s another time when Isabelle was crawling up the staircase all by herself, while my maid went into the kitchen. See, how can I leave home with a peace of mind?

I think her sleeping pattern improves a lot. She can sleep for 3 – 4 hours then only ask for a feed. Previously, she wanted to suckle all the time. So, I can sleep a bit nowadays.

She’s supplemented with formula a few times this week. I asked my maid to stop frozen EBM for a while, and let her get used to formula milk. But her skin condition got worse after introducing cow milk. I talked to her paediatrician and he suggested Isabelle to take NAN 2 after she’s one year old. She has really sensitive skin and cow milk will make it worse. He doesn’t agree with goat milks too. So, I better forget Karihome then. Mommies, any recommendation? WMD? I was wondering what milk you are using too? Since RE has eczema….

Oh ya, she’s turning one next month. I wanted to have a party, but hubby’s not anticipated. He prefers to have a family home party only. Gee, dunno when will my kids have their own birthday party!

Kiasu Mommy School Shopping

Mummy in Vain told me that her daughter’s kindergarten was having an open day today. So, I went there after picking Justin up from his preschool just to have a look.

After my first incident when enrolling into a famous kindergarten, frankly, I’m really kiasu. Not that I want my boy to excel in kindy, but I’m kiasu that I might be too late to register him in any school! I was shocked that why the classes were full so fast, it’s just like booking for a wedding banquet a year before!

So, there I was looking around, and Justin and Isabelle were having fun looking at other kids too. Then, I went to the office to get some information. I was so relief that next year’s registration has not started until June!!! Good, still got time to think think and think.

The clerk talked to me like it’s my first time “hunting” for school. LOL! And she told me lots of things about kindergarten which I already knew, hey, I ran a kindy before, ok? :P But I pretended that I knew nothing. However, I asked her if I needed to teach Justin how to write before enrolling him, and she gave me the answer I was looking for…

No need, we prefer you not to teach the kid anything, and just send him to school. What’s the point of going to school if he knows everything already? Besides, he will get bored easily as he will think that there is nothing much for him to learn…

Wah, I was so happy to hear this answer!!!

I prefer to lead Justin and Isabelle, according to their stage. I’m not saying that I won’t let Justin write before he starts new kindergarten next year. If he’s ready, I don’t mind teaching him. Lately, he likes drawing straight lines and wants me to hold his hand. I will guide him some times, but he doesn’t have the motor skill to write the pencil correctly yet. I know he should start with crayon, but he prefers pencil, what to do? :)

Another thing why I am still hunting for school is the one I registered is only for afternoon session, as the morning session is full. Justin wakes up very early, and he takes nap at around 1.30pm, which coincides with his school session. MIL said he can take nap after he’s back from afternoon session, just like Li Wei. But then I don’t like Justin to sleep late at night, just like them who only head the shack after 12am! Can’t blame Li Wei as he’s too alert after his evening nap.

And about MIL’s suggestion of driving both of them to kindergarten if they enroll the same school, Mummy in Vain gave me a good point. It will only be convenient for a year. A year later, Li Wei is going to primary, and I will have to shuffle him by myself too.

Besides that, why I’m still hunting for kindergarten is the Montessori in which Justin is going now is in English medium. If I can teach him in Chinese, ahem, my Chinese is very bad, then I don’t mind him continuing. But hubby’s family has this mindset of Chinese schools are better than kebangsaan, and all the kids need to learn Chinese. Since I’m half-banana, I’m not sure how to teach my kids Chinese! So, I better let them learn Chinese in kindergarten for a few years, then hopefully, they can pick up in Chinese primary school.

Gee….I have always thought that it’s too early to think about school. But I’m thinking a lot lately.

Prenatal Care

Before I was married, I considered getting myself an insurance premium meant for women, which not only includes all the ovarian-related cancers, but also Prenatal Care, delivery, and post-natal care too. On top of that, the policy bears about 50% of the expenses spent during hospital delivery, and gives $1000 cash to the first 4 babies delivered by the mother.

I was quite tempted, but I didn’t get it as I had only started working, and the premium was too expensive for me. However, I regretted it! I’m well insured but my existing premiun does not include maternity coverage. Since I delivered my babies at a private hospital, and they really cost a lot! Luckily, I didn’t go for Caesarean, as hubby’s friend’s maternity bill went up to RM10000, as his wife when for emergency C-section after being induced.

If I’m pregnant again, I will really consider getting a Maternity Card that offers maternity coverage insurance savings. I just hope that that will reduce what I need to pay for the delivery and save hubby’s money for my shopping spree. LOL!
