A blog for Justin and Isabelle

My kids are having running nose these days. I’m yet to being them to the paediatrician as they are still active and the mucus is clear. Previously, I used Physiological Sea Water Microspray as prescribed by their paediatrician to clear the nasal fossae and mucus, but it’s almost finish.

My neighbour bought this Arianna Infants Nasal Aspirator back for me from UK yesterday, and I tried it out this afternoon. Both of my kids were curious about it!

This part below is to be placed in vacuum cleaner adapter.

And this is to place in the infant’s nostrils to collect the discharge.

They had no idea what my maid and me were up too. But once I held Isabelle tight and place the collecting cylinder at her nostril, while my maid turn on the vacuum cleaning, she started to cry and “fight back”. I think she’s afraid of the engine sound of that vacuum cleaner, rather than the aspirator.

Justin who was looking by my site cried as well. He refused to lie down and we had a little wrestle! Isabelle was crying too seeing koh koh being held “captive” and “vacuumed” out his mucus. Eeeew!

After my maid finished washing the parts and passed them to me, Isabelle cried out again, just by looking at the parts! See, this gadget scared them a lot!

But when I used on them again before bedtime, and hubby showed both of them how it worked, and it’s only the vacuum cleaner that made all those noise but not the aspirator, Justin seemed to understand and not as afraid as before. But for Isabelle, she is still afraid of it. I’ll see how she reacts tomorrow.

  1. Running nose maybe due to having too much of aircond. Jo also has this problem, not a flu but is running nose, doctor said he has a sensitive nose and must limit the usage of aircond. Yeah, it helps to stop his running nose if i don’t on the aircond.

  2. ya…i agree with huisia…i got runny nose coz i nap in the air-cond room!

  4. Oh boy.. it looks absolutely scarry to me.. I’d go with the Pigeon brand nasal aspirator.. it looks more child and mum friendly.

  5. oops.. how come my comment didn’t appear?

  6. wah…this gadget looks very canggih leh… Darrius is having runny nose too, from clear to thick dark green and back to clear again… almost for a month so I really want to get something to clear those mucus..

  7. Hui Sia and Miche, that’s the thing. The preschool he’s going to is fully air-con, unless they are having activities outside or during meal time. That’s why he takes longer to heal this time.

Esperance, I’ll check out your blog. Welcome to mine. :)

Zara’s mama, all comments go under moderation. Actually, that’s not what I want, and prefer to see all the comments approved automatically, but I don’t know how to do that!
Oh, I didn’t get Pigeon nasal aspirator, but some one told me it’s not effective. Well, I’m not sure about it as I haven’t use that before.

  8. Angeleyes, it’s quite effective. And really suck out everything. The only disadvantage is it’s too scary to kids. And the vacuum cleaner is also very noisy.

  9. I got a cheaper version, my paed recommended. It is a rubber pump, very effective, no need vacuum engine. http://new.photos.yahoo.com/_michel/album/576460762350093951/photo/294928803750313055/4
