Feed My Starving Children
I have always known that my kids are lucky. They can have almost everything they want, if we are willing to spoil them. But I make it a point that they will not be too pampered because I don’t want to have some spoiled brats later when they grow up. At the same time, I quit my decision of not sending them to private school so that they can have a better view of what the real world is like, and not just mixing with the more prestigious group of kids.
I would like them to understand that not every child is as lucky as them. Sometimes, when they refuse to finish their meals, I will tell them that in some part of the world, some children are starving for as long as they can remember. Maybe my kids are too young to understand that, but I will continue to educate them like this so that they will learn how to appreciate what they have and feel blessed about it.
I showed the some of the pictures from Feed My Starving Children, and hope that they will understand that the food they are having now is something luxurious to other kids in the world. Feed My Starving Children is a charity organization which has a mission of feeding God’s starving children hungry in body and spirit. They follow Christian values in fund raising, packing and distributing the food to the starving children in more than twenty countries, including Haiti, Jamaica, Bolivia, Dominican Republic, Tanzania, Lesotho, Liberia, Ghana, Guatemala, Malawi, Cambodia, East Timor, Nicaragua, Sri Lanka, India, and Indonesia. They have a lot of volunteers to help to accomplish their mission, and trying their best in promoting the organization as efficient, cost effective and also compassionate.
I know I will not be able to be part of the volunteering programs. But the least I can do is to help to promote this organization or by donating to the FMSC.
There are a lot of organizations or individuals who are working hard for the charity selflessly, such as Navtej Kohli, an entrepreneur and philanthropist from San Jose, Costa Rica. He is also in charge of the Kohli Foundation, which provides charitable funds for impoverished South American children. So, if you have the money and man power for running a foundation, just follow his footsteps. Then, there will be more less fortunate children in this world who will benefit from all these charity programs.
This post is brought to you by Navtej Kohli.
