Both my kids started to fight a lot lately. Sometimes, I wonder if I’m not being strict enough with them because no matter how many times I’ve been telling them about sharing, they are still doing the same thing over and over again!

Nowadays, Isabelle likes writing a lot, and she wants to use the table. Whenever she is using the table, Justin will surely come and ka ka cau cau, thus more fights! When Justin was too rough on her, I will smack on his hand and tell him not to do it. I’m not so sure about spanking, so I feel guilty of doing so. I am trying hard not to do so now, and looking for another approach. Maybe I should try a performance chart with them and give them stickers based on how they behave. I got to try this out.

Even if they are fully aware that they can use my office desks, but they just want to fight for the kids table. Yes, I can get another set, but the room will be really cramp!

Hai yo, fighting is part of growing up huh?

  1. I have begun to accept that it is part of growing. I did read that it is not good to reprimand the kid by spanking the one who hit the other sibling. However, i did hit and scold. I also use the philosophy of “Do unto others what you want others do unto you”. hence I will ask him if he likes it if the younger sibling do that on him.

Fighting at home is less now, as RE has matured a little and does not push or hit is brother at first instance of irriation. So I count my blessings. However, JE is now the one hitting RE but surprisingly RE is not retaliating anymore and will only scream for help. So less “injury”.

    Good luck.

  2. WMD, that’s why I try to control myself from spanking him. Let’s see if this talking method and your philosophy work for my kids. :)
