Drinking Water

I’m quite particular about the quality of drinking water because I’m concerned about my kids. We are using a water filter to sterilize the water and we just drink it without boiling. SIL is even more particular than me as her kids only took boiled water when they were younger.

Actually, you can just order purified o premium waters if you don’t feel like installing a filter or water cooler at home. This company guarantees that their water is purer than any drinking water in the market, but I don’t think it’s available here yet. One of my neighbors gets their drinking water from a local company. Frankly, I wonder why they do so since our water quality is not that bad.

Justin’s First Chinese Phrase

One of the main reason why I switched Justin to this new preschool is I wanted him to pick up Chinese. He understands simple sentences but he refuses to speak most of the time. But today, I heard him saying 4 words clearly in Chinese. He said, “xin nian kuai le”. LOL! It means happy new year, and that’s the only Chinese he knows how to speak without us asking him too.

No doubt, he learned this from school and I’m so happy with it. I know it’s just a simple phrase, but as long as he’s willing to repeat what he learns, that’s good enough. But once we move, my kids will have to pick up another language. Gee…

Baby Animal Puzzle for Isabelle

31012008732.jpg

We bought this set of young of animal puzzle for Isabelle from Toys’R'Us last week and she likes playing with it. She was clueless on how to place them back into the slot but now she can do some pieces by herself. She will play with the set at least twice a day, and we don’t have to ask her to get the set out from the rack.

I wonder how long it takes for her to master it? By then, I will get more sets of puzzles for her.

Caring for A Newborn Baby

My SIL has just given birth to a newborn baby weeks ago, and she’s going through the ups and downs of being a new mother. I remembered that when Justin just arrived, I was very busy taking care of him and flipping through my parenting resources looking for tips! I read most of the books and magazines before that, but when a baby arrives, things can be rather different.

She didn’t call me directly, but I guess she can just check out more information online or just talk to her doctor if she has any concern. Do you know that she’s worrying about the milia on her baby’s face? I think I used to freak out too when I was them on Justin’s. LOL!

Now or Never

Some of the blogger friends are rather surprised about our decision to move to Bangkok. Actually, it’s not being made overnight as over the years, hubby has always tried to look for other opportunities elsewhere, but due to various factors, the plans were delayed or canceled. We had a serious thought about this as things will be easier if we are singles, but with 2 young children, we have to put ourselves in their shoes too.

I told hubby that if he really wants to start all over again in a foreign country, let’s do it now or never. Our kids are still young and they haven’t started school seriously. Justin is in nursery now, and he’s the one that we worry the most as comparing to Isabelle. He has just got adjusted to the new school but he will have to start over again once we find a school for him. I talked to him a few times about changing to another school but he doesn’t like it. He said he likes his big school now and doesn’t feel like changing. But as a parent, I got to be “cruel” in this situation as I don’t want our family to be separated even daddy’s working away. They have been growing up with hubby’s working away a few days in a week but the idea of not having a father there for weeks or months is totally out of question.

Frankly, all of us have to start from scratch especially learning how to speak Thai. Then it’s more like settling down and working on the business in a foreign land. After that, I will only think about what can I do over there, and maybe blogging will take a step back further once we move there for certain. For the coming months, I will be flying over with hubby to settle some issues and looking for a home first. The kids will come along once we “set up a home” and settle things down. It’s not going to be easy, but as time goes, we will be able to make it.

A Lot Of Things To Move

Yes, we are indeed moving away this year, but we will do it gradually. First of all, we haven’t got a house yet, so hubby and I are going over next month to look for one and hopefully we will get one that is suitable for us. After that, we will try our best to make it as homely as possible before bring the kids over, and we are not sure about the exact date of moving yet.

However, there are a lot of things to be brought along. I talked to the kids briefly that we are moving away and they wanted to bring most of their stuffs! We have a few electrical products and if I’m not mistaken, MIL will be glad that if we move them out from the storeroom as well. We didn’t buy them but hubby got a few from his golf competitions.

Frankly, I hope that I can find a reputable moving company like Boston Moving Company to make our transition a smoother one. I have a lot of stuffs myself too, especially the clothes! But I won’t move that many things if the cost of moving is unbearable. It shouldn’t be a problem to buy most of the stuffs there once we move. But for the kids, I really want them to feel homely and comfortable with the new environment. They can bring anything they want!

Marcus’ Birthday Party

After the trip to Cameron Highlands, we rushed back to Ipoh to attend Marcus’ birthday party. He’s 3 months older than Isabelle, and the party was held at KFC.

My kids had a good time playing with other children, but I noticed that my little gal is really more active than the birthday boy. :P So samseng. LOL!

Up and down the slide and mommy’s praying that she won’t tear her new knit dress. LOL!

Makan fries only, what else?

There was only a game being organized and it’s the musical chair. Justin understood how to game worked but Isabelle just enjoyed running around.

I got the chair!

Running is fun

Of course, the best part of the party was singing the birthday song, blowing the candles and eating the cake!

Faster cut lah…

I don’t want the cream woh…

I sapu anything, cream, icing, cake, anything. LOL!

If you would like to see more photos, check out Lovely Mummy’s blog. She’s the mummy of the birthday boy. :)

Carrots Are Good For Eyes

I bought some baby carrots for Justin and he refused to take them as snacks at first. Then, I came out with the story about how a horse rider ate lots of carrots for good eyesight and he could see anything as far as the horizon. I know the story is lame but most importantly, my boy eats the carrots now when he remembers my story. LOL!

Both hubby and I don’t have good eyesight, and we hope that our kids will have better luck than us. But if they really have vision problem, then we can’t avoid getting them a pair of glasses. Luckily, most kids glasses are quite cheap and they are made of plastic. If you can’t find anything you like from the optical shops, you can get those designs from websites like http://www.ZenniOptical.com. The $ 8 Zenni Optical Rx Eyeglasses are really cheap for grab! But if you don’t mind paying more for the glasses, get those fashionable designs. I would definitely get one that suit my face and doesn’t make me look like a nerd when I’m putting it on.

But then again, I hope that my kids can be away from glasses if possible. Let’s hope that my carrot story can still work its magic.

A Day Trip To Cameron Highlands

Hubby suggested that we bring the kids to Cameron Highlands for cooler fresh air since both of them wanted to put on the knit wear I got for them. Now you know why I knit so much? It’s because of my two biggest fans that demanded clothes from me, but for these sweaters, I ordered them from the shop.

We reached there rather early in the morning and the first thing we did was visiting a tomato farm owned by hubby’s friend.

The tomato farm

Now I know how tomatoes are plucked and washed

We didn’t leave the farm empty handed, the owner gave us one big box of tomatoes!!! But I know we can finish them in less than 3 days. LOL!

Then, we headed off to Boh Tea Plantation. I really hate the narrow road and wonder why can’t they widen the road? There were so many cars and buses going up and down the plantation and it’s only centimeters away before any vehicle dropped off down the cliff!

Very congested leh…

But at least my kids loved the place. Now they have a better idea on where tea leaves are from.

Can pluck back for po po or not?

We stopped by the cafe for some tea and cakes. As usual, my kids ran around after they had stuffed their tummies, and Isabelle even made friends with some ang moh. :)

Let’s eat!

As for me, I was busy snapping photos of the hills of tea trees. It’s really nice to be up there yesterday morning.

Nice view huh?

After that, it rained for a while but we still walked down the slope to our car. Thank god my kampung kids won’t get sick easily. *touch wood*

Since it’s raining, we went to the butterfly farm. It’s shaded so we didn’t get wet. Besides butterflies, there were snakes, beetles, lizards, frogs, tortoises, and other kinds of creepy crawlers too. We spent some time checking out the cactus and flowers too.

Some photo shots

The flowers are nice here…

Can kick the cactus or not? LOL!

Nice flowers leh….

It’s about lunch time by then and we decided to stop by Ye Olde Smokehouse for lunch. It’s such a nice place but since it’s a boutique hotel, spending a night here can be quite expensive.

Ye Olde Smokehouse

Once we placed our orders, we had a stroll in the garden while my kids enjoyed their lollipops. The garden has lots of pretty plants and flowers, and both Justin and Isabelle had a good time disturbing those angmohs running around.

Sweet sweet lollipops

Wah, there’s a cannon here!

Insides also very nice hoh, mei mei…

The kids didn’t eat much. Maybe they were tired and sleepy after a long morning. After lunch, Isabelle felt asleep but Justin was still wide awake. We stopped by a strawberry farm and let him have fun picking the strawberries by himself.

I pick my own strawberries! (There’s hubby’s carrying sleepy Isabelle at the back)

Oh no, the trip didn’t end here. Justin found a horse among the kiddie rides outside the farm and he wanted to have a ride.

I love my “horse” ride

By then, we got to say bye bye to Cameron Highlands as we had a birthday party to catch. Both of them slept in the car until we reached Ipoh. They were very exhausted after a fun filled day.

No More Kopitiam Can Or Not?

My kids love to go to Oldtown Kopitiam and so am I. However, hubby is getting sick with it since we go there almost every weekend. He’s out of idea on what to eat as he has basically tried everything, but his prince and princess want to go there, what to do?

Daddy, this place is nice mah…

It’s funny to see someone who’s not really particular about food being reluctant to eat at the outlets with cheap and nice food. So, papa, here’s a photo of Isabelle “begging” you to go there again as soon as possible…

Daddy, we come here la, I will give you a kiss. Muak muak…

Nah, faster say my kids are cute. LOL!
