Isabelle: 20 months old
I’m a bad bad mommy. I promised to update about Isabelle’s progress every month until she’s 2 years old but I didn’t do so on 23 December 2007. We were having a holiday in Bangkok and I couldn’t get a connection until days later. So, sorry ya girl? Mommy will get it done now. I’m having some hard time with her sometimes. It’s terrible two huh? She throws tantrums out of anything unexpected. So, it’s a challenging moment for me to be more patience….*breathe in, breathe out, breathe in, breathe out*
She’s talking a lot now. It’s more on single words on anything! I am always surprised by her when she utters some words that I never know she knows. We only try to correct her when the pronunciation is totally out like for “thank you”, she will say “ka put”. LOL! It’s totally out, but we know what she means. Other than that, she’s doing fine. She’s using words like “I”, “me”, and “mine” now. If you grab her toy, she will cry out “mine mine mine” while whining. She has started singing by following some sounds and words. The songs that she likes are from her Kindermusik CD, and we have been listening to the songs for months!

I wanna be a singer…boleh? (A shot at FIL’s place in Bangkok)
At 20 months old, she’s great at traveling. She’s been to places like Bali, Bangkok and Kuching by flight. She was doing well until our last flight from Bangkok to KL. She’s bored and tired and she was very difficult throughout the flight. One of the passengers thought it’s her first flight and told me to get some pills for her. I told her it’s not, and it was the only time she fussed on plane. Maybe she’s really tired and restless. But with 2 thick-skinned parents who don’t care about what other people think, that doesn’t stop us from planning for more holidays. So, she will still be flying with us, but I need to get some stuffs to occupy them on the plane now.

She’s very adventurous and playful. Maybe she has koh koh and jie jie to play with, she’s quite advanced in terms of motor skills. She’s been feeding herself for the past few months, and she likes “drawing” and “writing straight lines”. She loves to play with my mouse too, so I always joke that she’s going to start her own blog one day. LOL!

At the monkey bar… (Justin was playing at the back)
Of course, she’s not as boh kiasi as before. She understands what danger means and she listens to us most of the time. But I found that the boh kiasi-ness is still in her. Here’s a clip on how she reacted to a barking dog.
The dog was in the house compound la…
When it comes to food, she takes anything, even spicy food. She won’t cry after tasting it but will ask for “wover” (water). I love to see her eat. She has no problems with spoon and fork, but she still makes a lot of mess. Hey, she’s only 20 months old, what do you expect?

BTW, I can stop worrying about her being a tomboy. She’s getting interested in hairpins even if only for a short while. She loves dresses too, but simple way of dressing is still her style. She will not put anything on if she doesn’t like it. So, maybe she get her fashion sense from me.

My Hello Kitty hairpin nice leh?

I like this Minnie tee. Mommy knitted for me.
She has a comfort object. It’s a baby doll without hair. She chose her by herself while shopping at Carrefour. This doll comes with some changing clothes, but she only knows how to strip her naked and laugh at her. LOL! When she goes to bed, she will look for her baby. She will ask me to put clothes on her before hugging the doll and me to sleep.
She’s very adaptable. We don’t have problem traveling with her and she doesn’t recognize the bed or house. So maybe I don’t have to worry too much if we move.

A shot taken at BIL’s house in Bangkok. She likes the trees in the yard.
She knows how to take off her pants and demand for her potty. Accidents still happen, but it’s getting lesser. She is learning to put on her shoes now, but we still have to help her. She likes bathing me, and helping me to clean the table. It’s like I’m having a little helper who’s eager to help, but mess things up for me to clean it later. LOL! Nonetheless, I let her do her share. It’s nice to see how hard she’s trying to be a “grown up”.
She loves puzzles and she has started playing the 2-pieced puzzles for a month.

I can do 9 sets before I cabut and run away. LOL!
I don’t have plan to send her to school now. She likes school, but I really hope that she can just play at home and have more fun growing up as a kampung kid. Once she’s going to school, I will be very bored at home. Besides knitting, what else can I do? Get paid for doing environmental site assessment meh?

Paik Ling, wow, thanks for praising her. I’ve just had a difficult “session” with her tantrums just now. Sigh…She’s sweet most of the time, but when she’s angry, sigh….
