Bento#1

I’m not sure how many bentos will I prepare in the future, but the first bento is definitely a blogable material!

Days ago, I tried out the egg mold which I bought from Tesco for the first time, but the result didn’t turn out nice. I was in a hurry in the morning, and I didn’t boil the eggs long enough. It’s so hard to remove the shells, my eggs were quite “deformed” on the surface. :P My kids don’t eat eggs as I delayed in introducing eggs to my ultra sensitive kids who couldn’t tolerate a few types of food when they were babies. So, when I started introducing eggs when they were much older, they dislike the taste. However, they were interested to try out the “funny looking” hard boiled eggs as breakfast that morning but they couldn’t finish the eggs. It’s a good start. :)

Very deformed car and fish eggs. :P

So, this morning I decided to prepare their bentos to the office. It didn’t take me long to prepare the rice, pan fried chicken terriyaki balls, and our breakfast (fish ball and minced pork with Chinese spinach & noodles in anchovy soup). However, I was struggling with the rice mould as the rice was hot!!! Furthermore, I threw away the wrapper without reading the instruction first so I had to agak agak how to use the rice mould. LOL!

Teriyaki chicken balls.

Justin and Isabelle’s bentos with rice, broccolli, cauliflower and chicken balls.

My rice didn’t turn out cute… Sigh…

I bought the bento sets from Central, and they come with bags. Since there was one extra container, I packed them some snacks too.

Add some snacks…

Melody bento set for Isabelle and Shinkansen for Justin. All done!

The kids and hubby woke up shortly after and my kids were happy to see their bentos. I don’t know why, my breakfast tasted so nice this morning, maybe I was happy with my first bento “achievement”. LOL!

Our breakfast…

Oh ya, I ordered more bento stuffs online just now. LOL! BTW, I don’t think I will prepare rice for bento as it gets cold after a while and my kids couldn’t finish the rice. I wonder how to reduce the portion of the rice or make it warm longer? Mmm…

Rant…

I want to rant. It will normally take only a day to get the term life insurance quotes from an insurance agent, but when we surrendered one of our policies, it took so long to get the surrender value. Apa pasal leh? I’m not sure, she said it’s the normal procedure. Sigh…

But one the day we surrendered, we got a new policy and it was done ASAP. Of course, we didn’t get it from the same agent. Why? It’s because we don’t really like her. LOL!

Brillante Weblog Premio 2008 Award

brillante_blog_award.jpg

Ryan’s mami gave me an award. Normally, I will “ignore” tags or awards because I’m just plain lazy to find others to link back. :P *run away to away rotten eggs* That’s why you hardly see me doing tags for ages!!!

But I will return the link to Ryan’s mami and if anyone of you who are interested to give out the rewards, check out her blog. Ok? :)

*again, running off faster to avoid bloggers from scolding me*

Joe Galaxy

I’ve always had a simple life and in fact, I don’t go through a lot of ups and downs. Or maybe I’ve been too optimistic and that’s why I feel like my life is pretty monotonous? Anyway, I don’t have any much to wish for as long as my parents, hubby and kids are doing well.

However, I do believe in fate and how things can work better if you know about the direction in life. I’m not superstitious, but I don’t mind finding out more about Joe Galaxy® which includes the UFOs, One World Order, esoteric, and how the concepts can be used on personal development. I’m pretty curious about how can it helps someone to understand better about who he really is, and why is it suitable for anyone who desires prosperity and success.

Maybe I’m yet to be a believer, but if I’m willing to pay $499, I can get Joe Galaxy® which comes with 80 Gigs of videos and lectures of hidden truth. That sounds like a lot of money to me, but if you are willing to pay for the truth, check out the link. You can easily watch the videos on your iPod, so it’s very convenient.

So, are you interested? Honestly, I’m very curious.

Bento Frenzy

I would normally prepare my kids’ lunch to the office on Saturdays, but I only put the dishes and rice or pasta in the thermos container without anything fancy. In fact, I don’t think my dishes look cute anyway. :P

I got myself some bento stuffs and after “consulting” Miche, and reading about these “bento” blogs, such as…

BabiesLZ

Just Bento

Kooky Culinary

and many more…

I think I have a better idea on how to prepare. Wait ya? Some day I will blog about my kids’ bento sets. But I wonder if the posts should be posted here or on my food blog? Mmm…

Reading Together

When Justin was the only child, we read a lot to him and he had very good concentration even if he was only about 9 months old. I was pregnant and I had some complication. With hubby traveling frequently, the only activity we could both enjoy together was reading. I could still remember how bored I was reading Peter and Jane book 1a to him so many times a day! LOL!

But after we had Isabelle, it’s not easy to read to them together and separately. Both of them have different choices of books and some times they don’t like to take turns. I would normally let them choice 2 different books each and they will rotate the books. If one of them picks a book with 3 stories, I will be reading until my mouth is numb at bedtime. :P

I’m always glad that hubby is around at home more often now and each of us can read to the kids separately. It speeds up the reading time and it’s not too tiring. I do wonder when can they read by themselves, but I guess it won’t be for the next 5 years! LOL!

Anyway, I think I can recite the whole story of Cinderella now as it’s Isabelle’s favorite. As for Justin, he has a more diversified interests in different topics involving animals. I’m glad that Peter and Jane is over now, at least until they start reading by themselves again. Most parents start with Peter and Jane huh? :)

Dusit Zoo Bangkok

We were very indecisive of where should go last Sunday. Everyone was so relax and Isabelle and I slept until 9.30am. LOL! We were just like pigs, lazying around and doing nothing much. But after breakfast, BIL gave us a call and ask if we would like to visit Dusit Zoo in Bangkok city, and both my kids were excited about it. They got ready in lightning speed and urged us out of the house ASAP. LOL!

The traffic was great that day, and in fact I like the street along Si Ayutthaya. Those trees reminded me of our streets in Penang!

Along Si Ayutthaya

The royal palace is just nearby but we didn’t stop by to have a look. However, we bumped into 2 royal cars, and those cars are nice!

Dusit Zoo is just somewhere around the corner, so it’s not too hard to find. The children were all seated in strollers, so we decided to have a nice walk in the zoo rather than using the mini train.

We don’t have to walk much!

The mini train

But of course, the kids got out from their strollers once in a while to get a closer look of the animals. Then hubby and I would have to push the empty strollers and from the look on hubby’s face, I knew that he must be thinking, “Why so mah fan want to take strollers around? Some more 2 strollers. No need to bring la.” :P

Mei mei, you see?

More shots taken at the zoo are…

Got tall tall girraffe leh…Where’s the zebra? (They were somewhere further away).

Mommy, this tiger is WHITE!

The white tiger

This zoo no real elephants wan, only fake ones…

But this fake dino is cute!

Must at least take one family photo wan…

After awhile, Isabelle was pretty bored. I think she’s sleepy, so she got grumpy. On the other hand, Justin was still excited to check out as many animals as he could. This little fella really likes animals and SIL joked that he might either be a vet or own a farm next time. LOL!

I love the zoo.

Mommy, why so long wan?

The evil mommy “bribed” the grumpy girl with junks….and…

…Ice-cream. :P

There’s a lake where you can have a ride on the peddle boats. We might try that next time as everyone was exhausted after the walk. So we went to Siam Paragon shortly after. Everyone’s yearning for AIR-CONDITIONING after spending an afternoon in the sun!

We go shopping again loh…

If mommy can find any one of those reno hotels, I would check in and take a nap. I was so tired! Nonetheless, a little shopping trip at the beauty hall can also do the same trick.

Bought beauty products again. :P

Ah….I need more whitening masks. LOL!

When I’m 40 …

I told Justin that I can’t carry him much as he’s getting heavier. Then, he replied, “Why mommy? You are old already?” O.o

I’m not afraid of getting old gracefully, but I will do my best in preventing myself from premature aging with all sorts of lotions available at the cosmetic counters. When I’m 40 years old, I think I will be spending more money on my face because the more advanced the anti aging products, the more expensive they will be! I don’t think hubby has to crack his head thinking about my 40th Birthday Gift as he can easily get some from those cosmetic counters. As long as he goes for the more expensive range, he won’t make any mistake. LOL!

Since my kids are older then, they can easily find out more about 40th gift idea online and get me one of the nicest birthday presents. Of course, they might not be able to pay for their purchases, so hubby will have to fork out the money again. LOL!

But what I really want to do on my 40th Birthday is having a nice dinner with my kids, hubby and my parents. I don’t know where will we be by then, but hopefully all of us can get around together.

Crazy Shots…

I seldom appear in the photos because I’m holding the camera most of the time. So, I decided that I should just try snapping my own photos with my kids instead of waiting asking for help.

While we were waiting for our ice-cream at Swensen’s on Saturday night, I tried a few shots…

Not bad, but senget to the side liao…

Again, still senget, and Isabelle was doing her sad sad expression.

Justin suddenly joined in the fun and Isabelle was totally blocked. LOL!

Oh, everyone’s in. However, Justin is only 50% and my smile is numb. Isabelle is so cute but the shot is blur…..Aiyo

In conclusion, I better just ask hubby to help la…So hard to do. Any tips on snapping photo by yourself? My arm was kind of sore holding the camera far far away!

Halloween is Coming

I’m not sure if Justin’s school will celebrate Halloween, but I really hope that they will. LOL! It’s nice to dress kids up in costumes and furthermore, it’s very easy to buy those costumes online or get them from some toy stores. I saw some pretty fairy dresses and I think Isabelle will love to get one. As for Justin, he will look nice in Batman or Superman’s suit. :)

If you are celebrating Halloween, don’t forget to send a nice halloween gift basket to that special someone. If you hate shopping and wrapping gifts, just order them online and most of the merchants offer wrapping and delivery services too. That’s how I send the presents to some of my friends as it is very convenient to a lousy gift wrapper like me. Besides that, I hate sending the parcels by myself! LOL!

Anyway, it’s our first year in Bangkok, and we haven’t kmade friends with other expatriates. Maybe some of them will celebrate Halloween. There are some expats staying in my neighborhood and they have little children like us too. I wonder if anyone of them will organize trick or treat? I sure wish my kids can join in and have some fun.
