Food Bribery

Bribery. It’s such a bad word but as a “normal” parent, I do that sometimes. It’s more like food bribery to my kids when we are “out of ideas” how to “take control” of the situation. But our bribery is harmless, not like those kaya raya people in Thailand who br*be the protesters for months and now at airports. :P

Nay, I don’t want to talk about politics but only food bribery. I hate to do it, but when we are in a hurry, and if Isabelle is giving us a hard time, we just give in la… :P If you are a parent who has never done food bribery, I really salute you!!!

My girl refused to wear anything but her Disney princess dress this morning but it’s still in the laundry basket. It’s dirty, so how to wear leh? She refused to let me dress her, and I got mad after coaxing for some time. Then, I started this little statement like “if you get dressed and go downstairs, you can get something special.” There you go, I bribed my little girl just to make things easy for me. Very bad huh? *again, if you have never done this, you are very GENG!*

So, my little girl let me put on a flowery dress for her, and she even let me wrap a cape around her shoulder. It’s chilly and windy today, so her crochet cape is just right for the weather.

See? With that little piece of seaweed in hands, she was even willing to pose for my camera. Ya, food bribery is bad, but not as bad as political bribery. Ooops…no politic….

Reading Time

“Reading” together… (more like looking at pics and talking la)

I was taking my shower last night and hubby was doing something downstairs. My kids stayed in their room by themselves, and I overheard Justin “reading” to Isabelle. I quickly got myself done and grabbed my camera to snap some photos of how sweet the koh koh is to his mei mei. You know? They fight a lot wan mah, so when there is a moment of close sibling-hood, I should capture the moments right? But too bad, the very right moment they saw me, they stopped. :P

Posing for mommy

I asked them what were they doing, they said reading. It’s time for milk and go to bed. How sweet. Justin is very much into dinosaurs for as long as I know, and he has a book about tyrannosaurus, in 3D! I think children books are getting more interesting now, no wonder my kids love shopping for books. Isabelle is “addicted” to all the princesses from Disney. She likes one of the books about Look and Find.

Justin’s showing me the internal organs of a T-rex

Mommy, can you find bla bla bla…

One of these days, I should grab my camera or viewcam faster and secretly snap photos of them “being nice” to each other. And of coz, I’ll have to capture them fighting with each other too. LOL!

We Are Alright

I noticed that I have a post with the same title months ago. LOL! But I will still use the same title now.

My dad called, I know, the news sound worrying. But we are fine here. I will keep everyone updated if anything happens, which I hope nothing will. We are just expats in Bangkok, and there is nothing we can do except staying away from the hot spots. Of course, with Suvarnabhumi Airport and Don Mueng Airport both seized, we can’t fly anywhere, and so does everyone else.

Situation at Suvarnabhumi Airport, photo taken from Nation Multimedia

The locals around me don’t seem affected much, everyone sabai sabai only. SIL said when the military took over a few years ago, the situation was not as bad as broadcasted. They even went out to the streets and took photos with the soldiers and tankers. *slap head* I’m not sure what will happen next but we are following the news online closely.

Right now, both kids are at school, clueless of the outside world. Hubby is out visiting the customers and me, typing something for him but pause for awhile to update my blog. I have been thinking if I should write a post all morning as I know that my loved ones are worrying and keen to know more from my blog.

So, again, we are fine. For now la…

Wordless Wednesday: An Apple A Day Keeps The Doctor Away…Hopefully…

Suvarnabhumi Airport Closed

Everyone is talking about Suvarnabhumi Airport seized since last night, and I found out about this from the latest news online. When I told hubby about it, he was surprised and thought I was joking. Seriously, do they have to go to that extend of damaging the country’s image further? Do they realize how important tourism is to the economy of Thailand?

I wonder how long will the airport be closed, but I do hope that it will be back to normal soon. I have a trip to Chiangmai and we need to land at Suvarnabhumi Airport! I know that it’s a selfish thought, but if you have a vacation plan that involves the planes, aren’t you worried if the vacation plan can still be carried out?

Anyway, I really no eye see the political scenes in Thailand. The local people have various views and speculations, and I don’t want to blog about it. No point getting my blog into any trouble!

So, in the mean time, we shall continue our daily lives as normal as possible, and work hard on our biz. The kids still go to school as normal, and they won’t be affected at all. If the chaos continue, we will just stay at home and keep them busy with toys, books, going to the playground for a catching game with their Baseball Gloves or swimming, if the water is not too cold.

In short, life goes on.

Trendy Maternity Clothes for Another Baby?

Before you start any guessing game, the title above is not referring to me. LOL! I was pretty busy yesterday because hubby needed some work to be done urgently, thus I didn’t follow SIL to the banks and our manicure sessions. She went out alone, and we were pretty surprised to see her coming back late.

Apparently, her car couldn’t be started, and she had to get some help from the mechanics. Thank god she was in Future Park, so it’s not hard to get anything you need at this mall! When she was waiting for her car, she felt sick and rushed to the toilet and puked. Seriously, what comes into your mind when you see a woman vomiting in the toilet? Food poisoning? Or she’s pregnant? I would have guessed the latter! I don’t have to go in detailed about the symptoms of morning sickness right?

She told me that she already vomited once in the morning, and then again in the afternoon. Both hubby and I asked if she’s pregnant again? LOL! But she said BETTER NOT! I can see why she’s not too keen to have another baby too soon. Maybe she has just gone back in shape and she can wear anything that flatters her figure. It would be a nightmare to get out of shape again so soon.

But then again, most of the maternity clothes are very trendy these days. I should ask her to check out these Trendy Maternity Clothes from Belly Dance Maternity. An expecting mother can find anything from casual wears such as Ingrid and Isabel and Juicy Maternity, to sexy dresses from this web store.

I really like this little red dress by Olian Ponti. It’s fashionable to show off you bump, if you have nice legs during pregnancy!

But before I go any further, I better confirm with SIL if she’s expecting. LOL!

Happy Anniversary

I woke up early as usual and when I was busy fixing my kids’ bento, hubby came downstairs with a wailing Isabelle who wanted mommy mommy and only mommy. After putting her down, he gave me a “muak” and said “Happy Anniversary”. I stood there puzzled, huh? Arai (“what” in Thai) anniversary?

Oh ya, it’s our wedding day, the day we had the tea ceremony, the dinner and everything in Ipoh 5 years ago. You should know how a Chinese wedding is la… Again, I forgot. But never mind, I always forget about anniversary. Hahaha!

Justin’s Progress Lately…

Most people will tell me that Justin is a very good boy, except when he is playful. He can be a sweet little koh koh to Isabelle, and he can also be that little monster that disturbs his sister to the max until she cries. But overall, I think he’s OK and very independent.

He likes reading a lot, and we still have to read to his selection of books. Actually, he can sit by himself, browsing through the pictures and reciting the contents that he’s familiar with already, but he likes us to read out loud to him. He likes books about animals, dinosaurs, transportation, and he is getting interested in recognizing the different countries in the world. He knows where Ipoh, Penang (Malaysia in general), Bangkok (Thailand la…), Japan, Africa, Australia and etc are by pointing to the atlas. He likes to talk about some of the trips we had like seeing the sleeping volcano in Bali, most of the zoo and farm visits, and a few beach vacations we went together. I guess he knows more about general knowledge instead of academic learning these days.

Yesterday, it was his turn to raise the Thailand national flag, and I managed to snap a photo before they sang the national anthem. Hubby and I joked that Justin has never raised our national flag before but already did so for Thailand flag. LOL! I guess my kids might grow up confusing about their nationality, unless we tell them more about Malaysia…

Justin was going to raise the flag at school.

He likes school a lot, and he said he doesn’t want to go back and study in Ipoh anymore. I think it’s due to the learning methods practiced at his current preschool, which is more interesting to young children. We were surprised to see the school teachers dressing up like soldier, singer, nurse, policewoman and etc when they were teaching about occupations, or bringing the children to see the trees and plants in the garden when they were learning about plants, and today, Justin has another excursion to the Bangkok Aquarium to visit the aquatic animals (they supposed to go to Dusit Zoo, but it’s situated near the Parliament House, which is the hot spot of riot these days). I can’t read their weekly theme because it’s in Thai, so I guess they are learning about animals this week. I think he will enjoy this trip and talk about his trip later when we pick him up from school.

Hubby let Justin join the taekwondo class and he likes it. He “practices” with hubby almost everyday, before dinner, and I’m amused to see the two “boys” acting like kungfu pandas. LOL! Little Isabelle cannot join the class as hubby doesn’t want her to be boyish. :P

Justin will be 4 years old next month, and we still haven’t thought of how to celebrate his birthday. There will be a cake for him to school and he wants Power Ranger! He is over with Barney now because he said “I grow up already mah, only baby likes Barney.”:)

A Great Weekend

We had a great weekend last week. Hubby’s cousins are here in Bangkok, so we went for dinner together at a restaurant along Rama IX. There is a big garden in the restaurant, the kids enjoyed running around after meal. It gave the adults an opportunity to chit chit chat chat when the children were busy playing among themselves. However, at least one adult needed to watch them la…

Having fun at the swing. Gosh, I wish to have one in my garden next time… :P

Mommy, we sit here ok?

Pretending to take a nap…

Cockle Doodle Doo

We brought the kids to Central World yesterday and they were thrilled to see those Christmas decorations, especially the giant Christmas trees. Justin was keen to snap lots of photos, but my battery was flat! I used my phone to snap a few photos, but the photos didn’t turn out nice. Too bad…

Santa’s not here, let’s have his chair

We grabbed some books again, and oh boy, my house really has a lot of books! After that, we had lunch at The Sylvarian which is a nice family restaurant. Most kids will love it here as there is a play area, and while the adults are busy makan makan, the kids can have fun playing, after their meals. I could have a peaceful lunch and that’s great! I even managed to go shopping with hubby watching the kids at the restaurant. LOL! They refused to leave the place, so what to do?

This place is fun

Before leaving Central World, we snapped more photos of the outdoor Christmas decoration. Again, most of the pics didn’t turn out nice. :P

Santa’s sleigh is here, but where is Santa Clause?

One of these days, we should drop by Siam Paragon and snap photos of the toy soldiers at the entrance. Wait la…kids, we will go there one day.

Wisdom Tooth Extracted

I went to the dentist just now, finally! It’s not really painful, but it’s best to get my wisdom tooth X-ray and get the dentist’s advice. Apparently, this tooth could not come out as well, like the previous one. It was hitting against my bone at the back and my gum was inflamed. He advised me to take out immediately and I almost freaked out! All those hammering and drilling came into mind and I was terrified!

But he assured me that it won’t be painful and scary. The nurse even held my hand when the dentist jabbed me with anesthetic. They kept telling me to relax, but seriously, I couldn’t. LOL! The main difference between this procedure and the past was this dentist placed a cover on my face so that I couldn’t see anything. It was more assuring as I couldn’t see all his tools and I could have my eyes shut occasionally. He didn’t hammer my tooth too, but just drilled it. It is really better and less scary than the procedure I had in Ipoh.

My tooth was extracted fully as one, unlike previously when the tooth was smashed into a few pieces. I should have snapped a photo of the tooth huh? LOL! The best thing is, it only cost me 2180 baht, and it’s 50% lesser than I paid in Ipoh!

So, I’m in a bit of pain now, and I can’t eat. I swallowed my mihun which SIL bought for lunch. Cannot chew much, so let’s see if I will lose some weight without Phentermine pills. LOL!
