When I’m Old…

Sometimes, I wonder how long will my kids be staying with me. Both my bother and I are away from our parents, and I’ve “moved” out when I went to uni. I still go back home, but not for long stay anymore as I studied and worked away from Penang. Both my parents are still healthy, despite the fact that my mom was a cancer patient, but she’s doing fine now.

I wonder if my kids will move out soon like I used to? Maybe hubby and I will be all alone about 15 years from now, and we will have to take care of ourselves. If we are still healthy, that should be alright. LOL! Frankly, I’m not the type of parent who wants to tie my kids down. It’s nothing to be filial or not, but I prefer not to be a burden to them when I’m old. I might just get myself Fort Lauderdale Home Health Care service, if I can afford one. LOL!

Toilet Habit

I know everyone will think that my kids were reading, playing maze, writing or getting busy with the books, by looking at the photos on the previous post. But actually, they were using the potties. LOL! They can use the loo in the toilet already, but they still prefer to use the potty for the big business so that they can help themselves with the toys and books. The playroom or study room is their “fun area” for potty. :P

They began to develop this habit since the early days I introduced potty to them when they were babies. In order to make sure that they liked the potty, I used to read to them when they were using it. That slowly developed to them bringing their own potties to a corner, pushing a chair (tables are too tall) to the potty, getting some books or toys before sitting down to “bake cake”. Sometimes, they refuse to get up even if they are done. If they do so in the morning, you will hear someone nagging in the background like…

Faster loh, are you done?

Please be quick and stop playing with your toys.

WE ARE LATE!

I’m leaving without you!!!

If you think it’s me, you are wrong. LOL! Hubby is the one who’s very kancheong in the morning.

But if they are doing so when we are not in the rush, it will be a blissful moment for me to have some personal time of 15 minutes or more. See? They can really sit there for as long as we let them. Funny toilet habit leh?

Wordless Wednesday: Guess What Are They Doing…Actually…

Better Go…

I think I better make a trip to the dentist soon, and at first, I thought of doing so this afternoon, before picking up my kids from school. Mana tau, hubby dropped me some jobs and I have to get them done by today. I need to go to a few places too, and I’m not sure if I have any spare time to visit a dentist today. Funnily, it’s not as painful as yesterday, unless I chew on my right side. Maybe the tooth doesn’t have to be extracted? I can’t be sure about it until I get the x-ray result and dentist’s suggestion.

Let’s see if I can finish my work faster today first…Gee…have to pergi sini pergi sana leh…Sien

I’m Teething

Ya, I’m teething. You didn’t read it wrongly. My wisdom tooth is coming out and it’s bothering me to the max! It’s painful, and I think it’s protruding towards my last molar because it’s out of space.

I had one of the wisdom tooth removed a few years ago, and even if it’s a small procedure, it’s pretty scary to me. I saw how it’s being extracted, like incising my gum, “grinding and drilling or hammering” (whatever the term is) to break the tooth into smaller pieces before pulling them out. I tell you, when I saw the whole process from the reflection of the light above, I almost pengsan. Did I mention that I couldn’t drink water as the water came out from my mouth a few hours after anesthetization? And I couldnt’ eat for the first few days except “tasting” my own blood? No need to take Anoretix also can lose weight ok? Gosh, why am I going through this again?

The previous x-ray showed that I should remove both wisdom teeth at that time, but after removing one, I kiasi liao. I told the dentist to leave it alone until it’s painful. Manatau, it’s painful now!!! So, I am easily irritated, and I can’t enjoy food. How ah? Go to the dentist here in Bangkok? Kiasi la…

When Are We Going To The Farm?

My kids went to Farm Chokchai once, and they love the farm so much. Actually, this farm is more for milk and cattle supplies, but they allow visitors to have a tour at the farm and there is a petting zoo. Justin and Isabelle can still remember that they fed the animals, but not the rabbits. We found it funny when the lambs and fawns refused to eat the carrots and we forgot that the carrots were meant for the rabbits!

So, they have been reminding us that we forgot to feed the rabbits with carrots, and when are we going to the farm again? Gee… I don’t think we have time for that this year. But next time, if we bring the kids to petting zoo again, all of us will remember that carrots are meant for rabbits, not lambs, fawns or other baby animals!

The Change of Weather

We only spent 2 weeks in Bangkok during last Christmas, and the weather didn’t change much during that period of time. But lately, it can be quite windy, cloudy, or sometimes sunny. I place a jacket in my kids’ school bags and remind them to put it on, if they are feeling cold at school. They know that we will have holiday plans next month, so they can’t fall sick!

During the change of weather, some kids are more prune to flu and coughing. Isabelle has some coughing this morning, so I  better watch out. Besides giving the kids more fruits and vegetables, they are taking multivitamin supplement too. Hopefully, with a well balanced diet and some exercise, they will have stronger immunity to the flu bugs.

There is an article here that might benefit every parent with little children, especially preschoolers. Most kids I know tend to get sick after they started school, and they probably get the bugs from their friends. Check out the tips on How to cope with preschool illnesses, and even if you don’t think it’s necessary now, just bookmark it for future use.

I found this article of dealing with tantrums especially useful to me. I have to be more attentive rather than ignoring her when I’m busy! Isabelle can be rather difficult sometimes, but she’s improving. At least it’s getting easier talking sense to her now, instead of dealing with a screaming toddler. Maybe her terrible two monster will leave soon… *I’m praying for that!*

Justin’s Birthday Next Month

This morning, I told Justin that he’s birthday is coming soon and if he would like to bring a cake to school. At first, he only wanted a birthday cake at home, and celebrating his birthday among ourselves, but after some persuasion, he had finally agreed on celebrating his birthday at school as well. I need to order 2 cakes for him then, but he has not made up his mind on the designs of his cakes.

I’m not good at organizing a birthday party at home because I hate to do so. I prefer to have the party elsewhere and hopefully, there is an organizer. LOL! But if you are planning for a party, check out the various party ideas at Celebration.com. You can easily find some party ideas for various occasion, including birthday parties for children. Previously, we had parties at McDonald’s and it’s so easy and hassle free. But since we don’t have lots of friends and relatives here, we will just have a mini celebration at home.

Most of his friends do not prepare party packs, so I won’t do the same for Justin too. A birthday cake to school is good enough, or maybe we can give out some party hats? Let’s see what does his teacher think about this.

Isabelle’s First Homework

As school holiday starts in Malaysia, my kids have just started their new school term in Thailand. They skipped the first 2 weeks, and went back to school yesterday. Thus, they have some homework this weekend, which they missed days ago.

It’s the first time Isabelle brought back her homework. I never really check on what she learns as it’s all in Thai except English. We just hope that she will pick up the language and don’t emphasize much about the syllabus. We got the clerk to help us to translate the instruction and then the kids did their homework on their own.

Isabelle was reluctant to follow the instructions though, or maybe she’s too young for homework? She started by doing at the table and then shifted to the floor. She decided to color (or should I say mess up? ) her papers after she’s completed her work.

But as long as the papers are done, there’s nothing much to complain about a 2-year-old…

Back to Bangkok

We arrived safely in Bangkok last night, and the first thing I noticed as I was walking out from the airport is….it’s colder now! It’s winter in Bangkok, and I like it! It won’t be as cold as other winter countries, but at least I can enjoy some sunshine and cool breeze.

My kids went to school this morning. As usual, Justin is always excited about going to school, but Isabelle showed me the grumpy look. Maybe she needs more time to get used to our normal routine after 2 weeks of holiday. I noticed that most kids are dressed in thicker clothing at school today, except my little Isabelle. :P I should have pack their jackets too, but I thought it’s not that cold. So, I better remember to pack for them next week, just in case they need it.

As for work, hubby is busy since the moment he stepped into the office. I’m still ok, no job order from him. LOL! But I have a few cari makan posts screaming at the corner, and I better gao tim them soon. If there is not much to do for hubby, I have to do some grocery shopping. Justin told me this morning, “Mommy, our fridge has nothing much to eat already.” Ya, I know boy, it’s almost empty! Now you know why I can’t take any Dallas jobs or working for others? I really cannot sit in the office for long hours. Can die wan…have to go shopping. LOL!

On top of that, since the weather is so nice at least for the next 2 months, it’s a great time to visit Bangkok. (I’m aware of the bombing warning ok? But I’m talking about the nice weather.) We are expecting hubby’s cousins next week, and I’ve lost track of those who will visit. LOL!

But for December, we will be going on 3 short trips, all within Thailand. It’s nice to go on holiday on this nice weather.
