A blog for Justin and Isabelle

Lilypie Kids Birthday tickersLilypie 4th Birthday Ticker

December 1st, 2008 by shoppingmum

I know that we have been talking about buying the kids bicycles for months, but hubby was against the idea at first as he thought the kids are too young to cycle on the road in our mooban (village aka taman). We don’t have a big compound like the house in Ipoh, so the kids can only cycle on the road, to the playground area. But after some thoughts, it’s time to get them the bicycles. We just have to be watchful, and since there are a lot of kids cycling in the evening, most of the drivers are awared that they have to be extra cautious driving in the mooban at this hour.

Previously, we checked out the bicycles at Tesco, Future Park and Carrefour, but the kids didn’t like the bikes. They wanted something like those at their schools, with cute characters like Hello Kitty, Ultraman, Doraemon, and etc. So we talked to the school and they told us where to get the bicycles from.

We went to the shop last Saturday, and the kids were thrilled to see the choices of bikes available. Isabelle chose Hello Kitty, no doubt about it, and Justin wanted Doraemon.

I want this Hello Kitty bike. It’s PINK!

This Doraemon bike is all mine!

When hubby and I were busy making the payment and filling up the particulars for 3 years warranty, the kids already started cycling around in the shop. LOL! They just couldn’t wait any longer. Thus, we brought them cycling for awhile when we reached home.

Justin has no problem with cycling, and he has the aim of removing the training wheels by 6 years old. I said he cannot remove them any earlier because I don’t want him to get hurt. :P

Justin’s on the move, he cycles very fast and I had to run along with him. Good exercise huh?

It’s Isabelle’s first bicycle as she had only tricycles previously. She needed hubby to give her a push before she could start paddling. She had the tendency to “cycle” backward, like she used to do with her tricycle.

Hubby’s giving Isabelle a helping hand

Our little Isabelle is still pretty fearless like a year ago, check out the clip taken when she’s 20 months old. When the dog barked at her (the big dog was behind the gate la), she pointed “her gun” at the dog and started shooting “bang bang bang”. LOL! I told hubby to keep an eye on her, just in case the dogs are not being locked  up!

Isabelle “shooting” the big dog that barked at her.

We didn’t let them cycle too long as we were rushing for dinner with BIL’s family. We went to The Avenue in Ratchayothin for dinner, and oh boy, this place was so packed that night! We picked Oishi Express as everyone wanted to have Japanese buffet.

After waiting for some time, my kids were restless and hungry and tired! So, they ate a lot when we managed to get our table. When they were done with their meals, Isabelle was totally tired and blur, but the koh koh was still very excited. Maybe it’s all about his new bike…

Isabelle’s signature sleepy look, a moment before…

She lied down and rest in a full tummy. LOL!

Justin was more excited than usual…

The next morning, hubby brought the kids out cycling again but I didn’t go along. I was busy fixing breakfast and washing the kitchen faucets. When they came back an hour later, hubby said Isabelle can cycle on her own already, and we are so proud of her!

I can cycle loh…the next day la… :)

So, maybe someday we will get 2 adult bikes and go cycling at the nearby park, if the kids can be trusted cycling on their own, without us walking by their sides.
