Buckle Up
A few days ago, I chatted with my SIL who’s interested to know about car seat. My 2-year-old niece has never been buckled up in the car, and if it’s not due to the recent enforcement which requires the back passengers to buckle up, my SIL said she won’t even want to get a car seat! *slap head* But then, they always go out with maid la, got someone to carry and take care of baby mah…Not like us, we have to do everything on our own!!!
I’m one of those parents who encourage babies and children to be buckled up in car seat. In fact, I bought Justin’s first car seat before he was born, when I was expecting him. I thought of using it upon checking out from the hospital, and you won’t believe how discouraging MIL was. She said the car seat was bad for newborn’s back, but actually, the infant car seat is meant for newborn babies above 2.5kg, so it’s suitable for babies. Anyway, that’s Justin first car ride, and I couldn’t do much to argue with her. Not only about car seat, but about breastfeeding! LOL!
Once the babies are used to their car seats, it’s like an habit to them. Both our kids are using the boaster seats now, but Isabelle refuses to put the strap in front of her chest as she said she can’t breathe well and it’s bothering her neck. *roll eyes* Nonetheless, she’s still being buckled up at the waist, and she can’t move out of her seat.
With hubby’s family members flying over here tomorrow, we need to have 3 cars to pick them up at the airport. But I already warned hubby that our car seats will not be taken out from our car. I know that both our kids will be jumping here and there in the car, and they will probably play and fight with their cousins too.
Since it’s an MPV, we can still have 2 or 3 passengers in, or just place the luggage at the back. I won’t tolerate my kids sitting in the car without the boaster seats as we are leaving for Pattaya directly from Suvarnabhumi Airport. Not to mention that my hubby is not a careful driver, and he likes to speed!!! He will probably speed like h*ll tryin to catch up with BIL who drives faster than him. *slap head again*
So, it’s great to hear that back passengers are required to buckle up in Malaysia. But then, please get car seat or boaster seats for kids, if they are below 12 (if I’m not mistaken, 12 should be the minimum age?). The price is just like buying 5 pairs (or more) of children’s Nike shoes la…

I absolutely believe in safety too. Both my children has been in car seats when they were young.
Happy Chinese New Year to you and family too!
i do agree with u that its important to let kids seat on their own car/booster seat. and u have to start them from young. and they wont make any fuss once they recognise where is their seat.
wishing u & family KONG HEI FATT CHOY!
