New Look for Bento Blog
This lovely mommy has just made me a new header for my bento blog, and she also designed a mini banner for me. How sweet!!! Sasha, you better start taking header biz orders! SERIOUS! I’ve put up the mini banner here, so it’s easier for you to go to my bento blog, if you don’t know that it ever exists. LOL!
I love the header and the mini banner, they are so ME, except the fact that I’m not that “hou san choi” la. LOL!
In short, thanks again, Sasha!
Happy Valentine’s Day
It’s Valentine’s Day, but we don’t have any special plan. We will go for dinner with FIL and BIL, so it’s nothing romantic. Nonetheless, we are going to have steamboat! And I love it! Poor hubby will have to drag himself to the steamboat restaurant, even if he does not like steamboat at all. LOL!
If you are still thinking about where to dine tonight, you might check out these New York Restaurants or any nice restaurants around your area. But I guess most of the nice ones will be very occupied, and some might not serve without reservation.
In short, Happy Valentine’s Day and enjoy today (and everyday) with your love ones.
Dining Out
There was a time when my kids would run around at restaurants, way before we finished our meals. I’ve always worried that they would bump into waitresses carrying hot dishes, and get themselves hurt. So, it’s like mother hen chasing after the chicks when we were dining out.
But lately, they behaved better. They still run around, but not as far or as adventurous as before. At least they spend more time enjoying the food, and after that, they will get themselves busy with crayons and papers.

At Sizzler

At Swensen’s
I like those places that prepare crayons and papers for kids. I know that we can pack some for the kids, but I always forgot to do so. Mmm…maybe I should remind Isabelle to put some color pencils in her handbag next time. LOL!
Photobooks
I seldom print our photos as there are thousands of photos stored in my hard disk, it would be very costly to print all of them out. Thus, I like to select a few and get them printed in photo books. Previously, I printed some from Pixart, when we stayed in Malaysia. But now, there is another photo printing company called PRINTcafe, which is based in Thailand. You can find one outlet at Level 5 of Siam Paragon. It’s located near the stationery section, and you can go there to check out the samples. I’ve done a few copies there, and some were sent online via their website. So far, I’m pleased with the quality and results.
Nonetheless, I printed a few nice photos and framed them up. I can’t drill holes into the wall, so all the photo frames are placed around the house, wherever is possible. I prefer to have lots of family photos than nice paintings in the house, the photos make the house looked more homely to me. But if this is my own house, maybe I will get some nice paintings that hang them up. There is no point getting any now as they will either be ended up in some art storage company or in the store room!
So, if you are interested to print some photo books, check it out.
Monthly Allowance
The Thai government has approved to give a monthly allowance of THB2000 to its people with income lower than THB20000. Too bad I’m not a Thai citizen, if not I would love to get that allowance too! It may not be a lot of money, but then, it’s still free money.
The economy is pretty bad now and an extra cash is always useful. If I manage to save it up to a large amount, who knows? Maybe I can get some precious metals? It seems like gold is still the best thing to buy. A lot of people are selling it off at the good price now, but too bad, all my jewelry is kept safely at the safe deposit in the bank back home.
Anyway, I prefer to keep than selling them off now…
I’m Thai… I’m Chinese
We had never taught our kids that they are Malaysian, when we stayed in Ipoh. It’s always like we called ourselves literally as Chinese, even if we should be Malaysian Chinese.
But after we moved to Bangkok and started sending our kids to Thai preschool, our kids changed a lot. Firstly, they can sing part of Thai national anthem, speak simple Thai and learn about Thai culture. If you asked Justin if he’s Thai or Chinese, he would reply, “I’m Thai. Not Chinese” without any doubt. Hubby and I tried our best to correct him that he’s a Malaysian, or Chinese, but he still preferred to be Thai.
But during Chinese New Year, when hubby’s family members came to Bangkok for reunion, SIL#2 helped us to convince Justin that the answer should be “I’m Chinese”, instead of Thai. *I know it’s Malaysian, but let it be Chinese first…”
So, how did she manage to do that? Food bribery loh… LOL! Furthermore, we told him that all of us are Chinese, that’s why we celebrate Chinese New Year, so he can’t be Thai, if he is part of the family. He likes to be like Li Wei koh koh, so if Li Wei is a Chinese, he wants to be a Chinese too. LOL!
If you ask him if he’s Thai or Chinese now, he will answer “I’m Chinese”. Bingo!
*Â Â *Â Â *
Isabelle has a tendency to “talk in her own language” when we try to lecture her. When we are reasoning with her, she will start talking nonsense, in dunno what language, to defend herself or make up lots of excuses. She would make very funny facial expressions and you just can’t help laughing at her, instead of being angry. So, one day, when she’s doing this trick again when we were scolding her…
Justin: Mei mei, stop talking in Thai. *some part of her speech did sound like Thai* You are a Chinese. Speak in Chinese.
Both hubby and I were surprised, so I asked him…
Me: Justin, you are Chinese right?Â
Justin: Ya, I’m Chinese. I SPEAK IN CHINESE. *answering me in serious look*
Beh tahan. It’s so funny when he said he’s speaking in Chinese while he’s speaking in English all the while. LOL! He thought he was speaking in Chinese! Hahahaha! We corrected him that he’s actually speaking in English, but he can start learning Chinese.
So, both Justin and Isabelle have started “speaking” in Chinese for the past 2 weeks. Why? It’s because MIL is still here, and we go to FIL’s place for dinner. After dinner, the kids will ask for some treats from FIL in Chinese, with us guiding them of course. FIL pretends that he can’t understand English, and if they want anything from him, they should speak in Chinese.
I guess they will slowly pick up Chinese, if MIL stays a little more longer. Besides that, they started digging out some Chinese books as bedtime stories. Not bad huh?
Cycling at the Park
My kids love cycling. It’s a great way of getting around in the mooban, and also go to BIL’s house which is just a few rows away, and also to the playground. But hubby likes to bring them cycling at the park near our place. A lot of people will come here for jogging as the track around the lake is pretty big. You can forget about seeing me jogging as I’m not fit for that at all! LOL! That explained why hubby and I didn’t go mountain climbing at Mount Kinabalu last year, and saved my time looking for travel insurance quotes. I’m just not that fit for tedious exercise la…

We love cycling.
Sometimes, musical fountain is on for viewing, but my kids would rather spend some time feeding the fish than watching the fountain.

Feeding the fishes.

You certainly don’t want to fall into the water!!!

Some of the fish are like 3ft long, so they are quite big.

I like this shot of my kids avoiding the pigeons, which tried to makan the bread. LOL!
I don’t know what’s on hubby’s mind. He always insists that we go one big round around the lake.

Daddy said have to cycle one big round.

Here’s a pic to show how big the lake is…Can you see the other side of the jogging track!!! So far leh…
Only Justin can manage to cycle all by himself. Isabelle will just complain that she’s tired and refuse to go on further every time we come here.

What to do? Daddy had to carry her loh…
But still, it’s a great exercise for the kids. After lots of cycling, they ate more at dinner, and fell asleep faster at night. Not to mention, it’s good for mommy to get some walking too.
Things They Say…
My kids are quite expressive, and sometimes, they do surprise us with the things they said…
Case 1:
When we picked up the kids from school yesterday, Justin pushed Isabelle and tried to get in the car first. Somehow, I think he said something like “Go away la you big fat mei mei” or very mean stuffs like that…
When hubby was driving and everyone was quiet, we heard Isabelle said…”Why you don’t love me?”
Huh??? All of us puzzled as she’s like whispering to herself and speaking very softly.
Me: What did you say Isabelle?
Isabelle: Why you don’t love me?
Me: Who? Who don’t love you?
Isabelle: Koh koh. Koh koh always beat me, scold me. Why you don’t love me?
Wah seh, our gal knows how to express herself like this??? She looked so hurt and kesian when she said this…
So, hubby tried to explain to her that Justin didn’t mean what he said, and we will scold koh koh if he’s rude to her and etc etc to comfort our little girl…I hope she got what we meant.
Case 2:
We are always rushing in the morning to leave the home on time so that the kids can arrive school for assembly. And almost every morning, Isabelle will say, “Where’s my handbag?” We told her that she doesn’t need one as we are not going gai gai, and she has her school bag already. But then…
Isabelle: Then why you use handbag?
Me: Me? I need my handbag. I have money inside.
Isabelle: Why you use handbag and I cannot use? Then you don’t use.
Me: If I have no money, I can’t buy food for you.
Isabelle: I don’t want you to use. I CANNOT USE, YOU CANNOT USE. O.o
Justin: Huh? Then you want koh koh to go hungry ah? I have no food to eat woh.
Hubby and I burst into laughters. Why Justin thought he would really go hungry? LOL!
Justin: Mommy no money, how to buy food for me? Later I hungry leh. You let mommy use handbag.
Hahaha! That’s a good excuse for Isabelle to accept the fact that she can’t bring her handbag.
