Sharing House Chores

Our cleaner comes to our house twice a week for cleaning and so far she performs rather well. The only problem is she doesn’t do the laundry and garden, but I can’t expect too much. As long as she continues to wash the bathrooms, scrub the floor, clean my kitchen stove and copper kitchen sinks, she already does me a big favor!

Hubby asked me to get the small hand brooms and dustpans for the kids and he trained them to clean up their mess after meals. At first, our kids are playful and eager to do their chores, but now it’s more like a responsibility to them, instead of a toy. Whenever they dirty the floor, we will ask them to clean up by themselves and both of them always oblige. There was a week when their teachers passed us the “house chore chart” and asked us to monitor if our kids helped out at home. Too bad I can’t read, so I left it to hubby to “mark” and tick their performance.

I must say, both our kids are very independent now, and they can do most of their “duties” on their own. Isabelle is so particular with her wooden doll house, and she will put everything back in place after playing with her doll house. She won’t let us mess up her house! LOL!

Justin puts his Lego, robots, Lego Techni and etc all in place too, and so far, he seldom loses his toy.

Honestly, I think hubby does a great job at home. He does the laundry and ironing. Even if his ironing is not perfect, but I try my best not to complain so that he won’t dump the job to me. LOL! But if I really beh tahan, then I will redo myself…without him noticing it. :P

Luckily, our house is really small, so it’s not too hard to maintain. The only problem is we are out of space of racks, so a lot of our stuffs are place on the leg rest or on the floor. It looks a bit messy, but what to do? We can’t squeeze in any furniture.
