Makan Month

This month is full of activities and makan makan, and as the result, I gained weight. After new year’s eve, I should really watch my diet and CNY is approaching and there is going to be another week of makan makan again! Then by the time we go back in April, I will surely to attack more food, so I better watch my mouth during the time when there is no makan makan sessions. :P

Maybe I should really step into our neighborhood gym with refurbished fitness equipment and do something about the fat a**. But I’m so lazy…and no one helps to watch the kids! Sigh…

Chiangmai Again

My kids love Chiangmai because they had a great memory on their previous trip. The boutique resort did a good job in keeping the kids busy with their rabbits and friendly service, and they had fun visiting the zoo, Night Safari and Tiger Kingdom.

For me, Chiangmai is a very small town, which I don’t mind visiting once in a while but definitely not for long stay. It’s very cultural and simple, and the city gal inside me would be screaming to go home soon. :P

Since BIL has set up a branch in Chiangmai, it’s not surprising that he picked Chiangmai as his annual company trip for his staffs. Not all workers went though but there were around 40 pax of us already. We tagged along since I don’t have a lot of staffs, and I shared some of his staffs. Generally, SIL will plan any event and I will just pay our share and go along. :P Save me all the hassle. LOL!

We flew there after hubby finished work, and arrived in Chiangmai after 9.15pm. The van left early but came back again. By the time we checked in, it’s almost 10.30pm but we went looking for supper. There was an art and food fair opposite Amari Rincome Hotel, so we didn’t have to walk too far to get food.

After stuffing ourselves silly with food, we went to bed and Zzz for the night. Everyone was so tired.

The next morning, we decided to revisit Chiangmai Zoo. Kids wanted to see pandas so we went along with SIL’s family and another partner’s.

They left early because the workers were arriving and SIL needed to check in for them. We stayed behind and continued visiting the rest of the zoo. This zoo is really hilly, so forget about walking here, especially if you are coming with kids!

We went dinner on our own since both kids were very tired, instead of joining SIL. We did manage to check out some stores and did some shopping at the air fair, nothing too fancy like a two step stool, but the kids were happy with their loots.

The next morning, we gathered with the staffs at 6am. No joke. SIL planned to pay tributes to the monks. Another Thai cultural thing which I learned in Thailand.

chiangmaiday1-3u

Just remember not to touch the monks, especially for women.

After that, we went to Doi Suthep, a popular temple in Chiangmai. Both kids were very grumpy by now, considering that they woke up early and so tired with the long steps.

Isabelle din even wanna look at the camera. :P

But they got a good nap when we drove down hill. Our next step was the elephant camp. It’s not our first visit but the kids could not wait to feed the elephants.

But the kids were not as daring as they were last time.

For dinner, we went for Lanna food and cultural show. SIL said the food sucks but hubby and I couldn’t tell, we still ate a lot. :P

Isabelle went dancing with Thong Thong.

The next day was pretty relaxing. We had breakfast late, and checked out an hour later. We were going to change to another resort called Krisdadoi, which has pretty gardens. The workers were going to have camping there.

But before that, we stopped by another temple.

chiangmaiday1-7m

Thai people really like to pray.

We arrived at Krisdadoi in the evening. The sun was almost setting, so I didn’t snap a lot of photos then.

Isabelle was very excited for her first camping, but Justin wanted to sleep on the bed in our room. LOL! So, only Isabelle slept in the tent with hubby. I must say the resort is very thoughtful. The tent comes with mattresses, pillows and blankets. With Chiangmai cool weather, sleeping outdoor is pretty nice.

We had camp fire that night, and everyone had a great time. I must say that this trip is pretty enjoyable. Let’s see where are we going next year, if we manage to hit our sales target.

Bye for now Chiangmai.

Justin is 6 years old

Justin turned 6 days ago, and he had a small celebration at school. We ordered a Ben 10 cake to be sent to his class and got some party packs for his classmates. That’s all he wanted on his birthday. Such a simple wish!

He’s got his birthday pressie from hubby earlier, while I still owed him his Ben 10 Bento. :P Really too busy to fix one for him on the actual day, so hutang first. :P

Mini party at school

Coincidentally, we had some relatives and neighbors visiting Bangkok, so we all went out dinner together. I brought along another cake because I didn’t have time to send it home. :P At first hubby was too shy to let everyone know that it’s Justin’s birthday and suggested that we bring the cake home after dinner. Apa la this daddy…

But Justin couldn’t wait. He kept asking when are we having his cake so everyone found out about his birthday. We had another cake cutting for him, and he’s very happy about it. He had pressie and $$$ from the adults, that made him even happier.

I told hubby that we should organize a proper birthday party for the kids next time, as they are growing so fast. But the low profile daddy doesn’t seem to be interested. It’s the family gene, all so not into celebrations wan!!! Funny.

I’m sure hubby will regret not giving the kids a nice birthday party before they turn teens. By then, Justin would prefer to hang out with his friends or go dating with a gal in prom dress then wearing party hats and cutting cake with us!

End of the year…

Year 2010 passes by faster than I thought. I’m getting a bit nervous with year 2011 approaching soon as I have some sales target to hit, and a plan to visit my supplier next year. But of course, before any of these can materialize, I must work on the sales. What a tough life!!!

Dear Santa, if you can hear me, please grant me my wish to be a BIMBO TAI TAI. Thank you very much.

Anyway, we have just come back from Chiangmai. Some of the photos are in FB already, and I might upload a few more. Kia si lang, I snapped almost 20G of photos. LOL! Don’t ask me why I snapped so much, maybe it’s because I am always in charged of snapping photos for everyone wherever we go. I must really pass this task to hubby already. Out of hundreds of photos, I have only 20!!! Mana boleh…

I shall try to squeeze some time to blog about the trip, if possible. :P

We won’t be having a break on Christmas, but our year end break starts on 29th. We might be going for a short trip again, if we manage to get a room, somewhere. :P Then next month, hubby has something to do in Singapore, so we will tag along. If there is someone to help out with the kids, I will go market survey with him as well. I guess the kids won’t be having much time sightseeing in Singapore as papa needs to work. Manyak kesian…

Oh well, let’s see if we will have more leisure time next year. That’s something to look forward to!

Interior redesign

After so long, we tend to get bored with our homes. The colour scheme is too bland, the curtains are tiresome and the layout in the living room doesn’t seem to flow any longer. But if your budget doesn’t stretch to a complete remodel and your time frame doesn’t allow for painting and wallpapering the entire house, you don’t need to feel you can’t make a change. There are ways to rework existing spaces and dramatically change the look and feel of your home without getting the builders in or hiring an interior decorator.

A really easy, almost instant way to change a room is to alter the lighting. A few new lamp shades on side tables instead of wall or ceiling lights can soften a room, making it feel more sensuous and relaxing. At the same time, a dramatic, bold centre lamp hanging from the ceiling over the dining table is a simplistic way to add colour and drama to an otherwise average room.

Lighting shouldn’t stop with light bulbs. Natural lighting is crucial to opening up a room, making it feel more spacious and welcoming. Change heavy drapes or blinds for sheer muslin or light, coloured curtains. If you want to ‘dress’ a room, particularly a pale or light coloured space, adding a flash of colour at the window with eye-catching curtains is a great way to do so without so much as touching the walls.

If you do want to spruce up the walls, but lack the determination or finances to do so, then make a lasting impression on just one wall. The ‘feature wall effect’ is well tried and tested, but don’t feel like it is too passé for you to give it a try. Make the most of fireplaces and stairways, as these are great places to draw the eye to. If you lack traditional features, don’t worry, interesting angles and shapes look just as good dressed up in a patterned paper.

Soft furnishings can act as a pick me up and inject a new lease of life into your room. You can change the cushions, bedding and even sofa covers every season if you wish adding a freshness every few months.

In the bedroom, this is easily done just by remaking the bed, albeit in new colours. Bedding now comes in all colours and fabrics so you can opt for brown silk one season followed by white cotton the next.

Pricedropper offers a wide range of bedding sets as well as other essential homeware items.

No Botox

A couple of weeks ago, I went for a facial and IPL. I didn’t sign up the package as I know that I really don’t have time to return every 2 weeks. Me no tai tai life ok?

So, during my IPL treatment, the nurse suggested that I get botox jab. I kid you not, she really recommended that I take the botox for my cheeks so that I will look firmer and prettier. But upon seeing that needle, I chickened out. Seriously, I don’t think I dare to try, even if she said it’s not painful. But it’s still NEEDLE!!!

Summore, with my big round face, I doubt that I can hold my smile after the jab and I will look so fake. Unless she assures me that it’s FOC and totally risk free without using term life insurance if something goes wrong *touch wood*, I WON’T get botox now. NOT NOW!!!

FIL’s Birthday

blog1

We celebrated FIL’s birthday at his condo last week, and this year, MIL is here. MIL said she has not celebrated FIL’s birthday for a lot of years, and they are always apart in 2 countries. FIL prefers Bangkok and MIL can’t leave Ipoh. She’s always worried about the 2 grandchildren back home. :P

We didn’t get him any pressie, not even ties but just food. LOL! Actually we planned to eat out but MIL preferred eating at home. Now I know why hubby is not really keen to celebrate special days outside. It runs in his family!!!

Dental Visits

I’ve forgotten to jot this down. Justin had a tooth decay last year, and we fixed it in Penang. But 2 months ago, the tooth decayed again as the filling came off. But since both parents dilly dally, the tooth was beyond “prevention measurement” and had to be extracted. So, our boy lost a molar! But it didn’t affect his smile though since it’s at the bottom side.

Anyway, he’s going to be six, so I think he will lose his baby teeth soon. But the dentist insisted that we do some fillings on the other 2 teeth found with minor decay. She said it will be very painful for kids if it gets worse, so better just fill them up.

So, he went for 2 fillings after that, all done in a couple of weeks apart. His first tooth extraction freaked him out a lot, but the nurses tried to cheer him up by giving him some toy each time he’s there. As for filling, he has no problem with it.

Each time Justin went to the dentist, Isabelle wanted to go along. She asked the dentist to check her teeth too, but refused to lie down on the bench. She would just walk to her, open her mouth and get her teeth checked. We know that she has 2 teeth with decay, but she refuses to get the fillings done. She WAILED out loud at the clinic! But the main reason why she wanted to get her teeth checked was…she wanted the toys!!!

So, to make her feel more confident in getting her teeth fixed, Justin kept telling her that it’s not painful. Maybe that will help a lot too.

She’s only 4. I think she won’t lose her baby teeth so soon, so we have to get her to fix her teeth!

Year End

It’s the end of the year when there are more celebrations and makan makan. I would love to go for parties, but it seems like the parties I attend are more for kids. :P

I thought for holding a birthday party for Justin, but it will only be done at school. I’m not sure if he wants to get the neighbor kids to have a mini cake cutting at home, just like what I did for Isabelle, but I have got to order the cake latest next week.

We are off to Chiangmai next weeked, and after that it will be too close to his birthday to get a cake! A Ben 10 cake!

I guess we might be eating out more for Christmas and new year’s eve. So, I got to know how to lose belly fat fast now before it’s too late. LOL!

Time flies so fast. Year 2011 is just around the corner!!!

Kitchen Closed

MIL is here for a while, so my kitchen should be closed this week. She’s flying to China with FIL next Monday, but in the mean time, she’s cooking for us. Yippie!

She can’t do too much anymore, especially after her recent fall which hurt her rib cage, so I won’t place food orders like I did to my mum. :P We warn her not to clean up FIL’s apartment too, and also forget about changing the curtains. She used to do that whenever she’s here. Thank god FIL’s not using any heavy log furniture at his place, and she can just do some simple sweeping and mopping without moving the things around.

I’ll drop by her place after picking up the kids and getting them ready. Hubby and BIL will go there after work, which is slightly later. It’s best that I go there earlier to accompany her, instead of letting her doing the cooking alone. It’s not that I can help much in the kitchen but previously, she fell in the kitchen, stepping on mango skin!!! So, on the safe side, it’s best that we go there early.
