Burn care products

I had a pretty bad scald when I was in high school, but it didn’t leave any scar behind. I was camping with my friends, and I accidentally poured hot boiling coffee on my fingers while filling up the mugs. Okie la, I admit that I hardly do this type of task at home, so I was very clumsy. :P

I didn’t tell anyone but went to cool my fingers with running water, but after a while, blisters started to form and I was in pain. Needless to say, I was brought to the doctor for treatment. So, getting scald or burn is really no joke!!!

I also tell my kids not to enter the kitchen when I’m cooking or the soup is boiling. You just don’t know when accident can happen, so it’s best to be extra careful. Some times, my kids still walk into the kitchen on their own, but I will probably nag and nag, or rush in to check on them. I’ve seen kids with burn scar, and it’s a painful healing process. I better be over protective than reckless about this.

So far, I haven’t stock up any Burnshield for burns at home, as most of us would probably know that the first thing to do is to rush to the hospital. But then, if you are looking for Burn care products, check out the links. Taking care of a burn patient takes a lot of time and these burn care products might be useful, if you get the permission from the doctor to use any.

Snake Farm at Queen Saowapha Memorial Institute

We have been to snake show before, but the snake farm at Queen Saowapha Memorial Institute is quite different. It’s very educational, and it’s set up for the main purpose of extracting snake venom and to produce anti-venom serum for snake-bite victims. Too bad it was a public holiday yesterday, so we missed the chance of seeing how venom is extracted. Anyway, both hubby and I are yet to recover from our flu, and even if we might not need roadside assistance club on driving to the farm, we could only manage a brief visit this time. We shall bring the kids here again for the thorough visit.

It’s raining season now, so the weather is just perfect for outdoor visit. There are 2 parts of this snake farm, one outdoor and a small museum located in a building. My kids were thrilled to run from one cage to another, checking out the snakes, mostly pythons, and some of them are quite big.

snakefarm12
The cages are not smelly, which is good. :)

snakefarm17
Kids were looking for snakes through the glass.

snakefarm16
Hi there…

snakefarm26
The indoor section is very educational.

snakefarm32
Hubby’s checking out some snake specimens.

snakefarm33
I myself spent some time admiring the snakes too. :P

snakefarm34
The snake victim did freak me out. LOL!

snakefarm36
This is cool…I’ve never seen the internal organs of a snake.

snakefarm39
Some of the longest snakes ever captured.

snakefarm44
The dramatic daddy. LOL!

snakefarm46
How often do you get to sit on snake fossil?

We enjoyed the snake show a lot because it’s not like those conventional snake shows with man kissing snake or whatever. It’s very factional, and we got to see king cobra, Siam cobra, some poisonous snake and etc. There was a non-venom snake too, which I can’t remember its name. It’s a 2nd graded protected species in Thailand because a lot of people think that they are poisonous and kill the poor snakes.

snakefarm54
Siam cobra

BTW, we were told that there is a spraying cobra in the farm, which I missed the cage! The cobra can spray its venom up to a distance of 2m, so it’s too dangerous to be shown. I would definitely pay more attention to the cages on my next visit.

Of course, the visitors are allowed to touch and carry the Burmese python, and the kids were very eager. They just walked down the steps on their own and I shouted, “Don’t squeeze the snake!” One angmoh tourist couldn’t help laughing at me. :P

snakefarm60
Isabelle tried to touch the python when a tourist was snapping photo.

snakefarm1
Justin is strong enough to carry it. It’s very heavy!

snakefarm59
Of course, the kids are so daring already, how can the mommy be coward leh? :P

Frankly, the python gave me a fright when the tongue hissed on my arm. Sipeh geli. I think I was shouting, oh gosh, oh gosh, so GROOOOSSS….. :P

Sick

A few minutes after hubby left for work, he called me and asked me not to lock the door as he would take the half day off. Both of us have been pretty unwell for days, but it seems like hubby’s condition is worse than me. LOL! He’s been sleeping in another room with Isabelle, who can’t sleep well in air-conditioning too. But then, I don’t think it helps much for hubby.

I guess he will be alright after a few more days of good rest, and lots of water. He will always act like a baby whenever he’s not feeling well. On the other hand, the wife is still at work and doing everything. *Blekkkk*

iFancee

I thought of waiting for iPhone 4, but it seems like I will have to settle with iPhone 3GS first. Justin dropped my phone, AGAIN!!! This time, the cover came off. Sigh…Can tape it back, but still, it would get loose after a while. Hubby said just tahan and wait la, since it’s coming soon, but I beh tahan jor. :P

I’m aware of the antenna issue about iPhone 4, but I think it’s cool to do video call. I would pass the iPhone 3GS to hubby, and get iPhone 4 later. Then, I’ll probably ask him to get another iPhone 4 since he is using 2 phones mah. Then only can we both do video calls! But I know my hubby la, he won’t do such thing wan. Blek…

I’m thinking of getting a iPad too, but that can wait. It’s not for me but for Justin. Hubby’s friend can help us to get one from US, but I’m not sure about that ipad warranty here. Is it worldwide?

Seriously, I think I’ve become an iFancee. Anything from the Apple store seems luring to me.

Green green lawn

Finally, my lawn is back to normal! The grass is all planted and the rain helps a lot in making them grow. I wish that I have some outdoor log furniture so that we can have meals in the garden some times. Thais like to do that, but then, how much time do I have spending around in my house? :P

But at least the kids stopped complaining about the dirt and muddy garden, when the renovation was on going. Isabelle even suggested that we stayed in hotels when she had had too much of the dirt. LOL!

Another Heart Attack Moment

Some of my friends think that I’m a supermom. Juggling a biz, kids, chores, cooking and etc, without a maid but only hubby. But I do have my very very bad moments, and I’ve just had one just now.

I was trying to upload Isabelle’s photobook in the afternoon, and it was not completely uploaded by the time I needed to pick up the kids. So, I left the laptop at the office, and went to their school. I didn’t arrive too late today, but I could tell that both kids were tired, as usual.

I drove them back to my office, and told Justin I would need to run up to the 5th floor to grab my laptop and I would get down. Keep the door locked and please STAY AWAKE and don’t fall asleep. So, I went upstairs, and the uploading was not done yet. Thinking that the kids were in the car, I went down again and thought that I could bring them to the photo shop to develop the photos for their school.

Who knows? Both kids were sound asleep. VERY VERY SOUND ASLEEP!

I knocked and banged on the windows but they didn’t get up. I got panic and I kept calling their names. The designing staff downstairs heard my calls and came to help too. But they still didn’t get up. I quickly went in the room to call hubby, asking if he can get the spare key at home. But then, the house key was in my car and he never brings the keys! My phone was in the car, so I tried to call my number, hoping that the kids will wake up but they didn’t. At the moment, I really thought of SMASHING the glass!

The office maid came to help too, and later on, BIL. All 4 of us tried to knock and bang but my kids just KEPT SLEEPING!!! Then, I remembered there was a mechanic shop nearby and I got the staff to go get the men. The mechanics came and they tried to open the door. They did something like opening the rubber insulating thingy around the glass window ( I don’t know the exact term) and tried to open the lock with a wire. Damn, I was still hoping that they could just BREAK THE DOOR!

When they were breaking in, all of us were still calling and banging on the car door. And guess what? Both my kids were still very much asleep!!!! I was really panic if they had too much carbon monoxide but my common sense told me that it’s only less than 5 minutes that I left them in the car, so they should be fine.

Ok, I was trying to stay positive and calm myself down. I know I DID WRONG by leaving them in the car and go grab my laptop!!! My priority list had gone haywire today.

Thank god that the mechanics managed to break the lock and the door was open. Again, both kids were still asleep. I quickly checked Isabelle if she’s ok, and then Justin. Isabelle was sitting at the front passenger seat, while Justin was at the back seat. Both were buckled up in their boaster seats, and maybe they were feeling very comfortable sleeping in it.

I tell you, you can’t imagine how relieved I feel when I touched my kids!!! BIL suggested that he carried the kids upstairs first since I still got to go develop some photos. Sigh…If we have a lift at this office building, I would carry both tired kids up in the first place too…

So, one lesson learned. NEVER NEVER LEAVE YOUR KIDS IN THE CAR!

When I was at the photo shop waiting for the photos to be developed, I really felt like the lousiest and stupidest mother in the WWW. What if the kids just can’t wake up? You know? That kind of thought of losing your kids?

Thus, after everything was done, I went back to the office to grab my stuffs and pick up the kids. Then, I went to the petrol station. Before this incident, I would just pack in front of the convenient store to grab the bread while the kids wait in the car, but this time, I dragged them along. Of course, the initial plan was just to grab a loaf of bread but I ended up paying for 2 kiddie books, a pack of jelly, and 2 kaya buns.

That’s the thing of dragging kids along while you just want to do a quick shopping…

But I’m SO GONNA DRAG THEM ALONG FROM NOW ON!

Update on Justin’s Reading

I’m glad that Justin’s interested in reading out loud lately, and he’s doing Peter and Jane book 4b now. I took this video last night, and it’s his first attempt in reading book 4b.

He’s still kind of mixed up some words, especially then, there, they and etc. I guess he will do better if he repeats this book the second time around.

When he had done with book 3b, hubby gave him a treat of horse riding in Pattaya. This time, he requested submarine ride. Let’s see if he can hit book 5a by the next school break, then we might bring the kids for the submarine ride.

Oh ya, it’s just a small submarine, and it only immerses for an hour or so. :P

Working on a project

I’m beginning to enjoy my work, even if it gets tougher and more challenging lately. Right now, I’m working on a project with department of science and technology Thailand, and if it works, it would be my first robotic project. Yippie! This is the first inquiry on our highest range products, and even if we have sold a few other units preciously, nothing can compare to this “big” project.

Hopefully, the parliament approves the budget, even if it’s just for one trial unit. LOL! It’s not that I can buy a lot of gold coins with the profit, but it’s the sense of satisfaction that I’m craving for. :P

TV evenings

Since I was pretty busy last week, I decided not to cook that often, and we ate out after hubby came home. Thus, I had some time rotting on the sofa with the kids, and we watched some TV together. It’s not often that I can sit down and watch TV with the kids, so it’s quite a precious moments for us. Isabelle clung on to me tightly, while Justin tried to explain the story line as he had watched the animation before. Now only I realized that most programs on cable TV are repeated! :P

Right now, we have only one TV at home, and it’s more than enough. Frankly, I’m not a TV freak. I would rather watch with my laptop, being placed on my bed. LOL! But if we have a bigger house, I would love to have a family room with bigger screen. Then, I would probably subsribe to another cable TV line. If you are looking for one, check out these cable specials as the promotion is quite awesome. The Dish specials are fairly affordable, and if you are a frequent TV user, they might work for you.

I think I’ll try to cook a day lesser during the weekdays so that I can just be lazy and watch TV with the kids. Let’s see if there is any specials on TV in the evening this week. On that day, we might just eat out or ask hubby to ta pao!

Now, where is that monthly TV subscription magazine?
