Counting Down

My office is very noisy again. Kids are back to their menace selves, and they can be very annoying then they are bored and playful! Luckily, they can still sit still and do some work once in a while and let all of us work in peace. If not, I think I need some bluetooth stereo headphones or earmuffs to cover my ears.

I’m counting down to the day when school starts again. We can visit the school to buy the uniform and books next week, and school orientation starts a week after. I am so eager for school to start!

Kiddie Meet Up

Even if our kids will attend a new school next semester, but they are still seeing some of their ex schoolmates once in a while. It’s all up to the mothers’ initiative and effort now as the kids are too young to call or visit their friends. So far, I’m trying to let Justin see one of his BFF for swimming in the weekend, and it’s great seeing them having fun together while his mom and I chat.

Our last meet up was like 3 weeks ago, and Justin missed his friend a lot. Isabelle on the other hand, it’s ok about not seeing her friends, unless we bump into each other at the local malls. I thought of setting up a mini party for her on her birthday last weekend, but then realized that I don’t have most of the contacts. Ooops…

Anyway, she has a small celebration with her cousins in Ipoh and then a nice dinner with my parents and FIL, so she’s perfectly happy with her birthday celebrations. :)

Maybe we will meet with Justin’s friends again this weekend. Hopefully, it won’t rain, or the sports center is having a pool lift, or his friend has other plans!

Our Pet G Force

The kids had been pestering me to get them a pet for very very long time but hubby is always against the idea. Have a dog is a big no no because it’s too big a responsibility for the kids. I thought of rabbit, but then hubby said the cat might eat it. O.o Hamsters are not for me too because some hamsters can be quite aggressive and bite, I used to keep 11 hamsters, and I can confirm on that fact!

So, after a lot of consideration, I bought them a guinea pig. Just a boar, without a mate. The poor thing should be very lonely as guinea pigs are herd animals. But I’m not ready to get the kids more pets, handling one is good enough for 2 young kids.

Gforce4

The kids named it G Force, but in nature fact, it’s very timid and tame. It has never bitten them, but the claws can be pretty sharp. So I’ve Googled and read about guinea pigs and taught the kids how to handle it, how to change its bedding twice a day, and what to feed their pet. So far so good. It’s been more than 2 weeks and both kids are taking turns in cleaning up the cage, and playing with it.

Gforce1

Justin shows a better sport in this case, thinking about feeding it if we are out for too long. Isabelle on the other hand, treats it like a toy. :P Thus, I won’t allow her to handle G Force too much.

Gforce2

Gforce3

This guinea pig prefers to stay in its cage mostly, but when we are around, we let it out to wander about. Too bad it’s not that adventurous! LOL!

Gforce5
I must say, I’m proud of the kids in taking care of their pet, even if they can’t score 100% yet, but it’s a good progress.

3 years in Bangkok

March is ending soon and April is approaching. How did time pass by so fast? In 2 months, we will be marking our 3rd anniversary here in Bangkok, and I can’t believe that we have been here for so long.

Actually, 3 years mean nothing to most expats I’ve known recently. I’ve just had lunch with an ex-school mate who has been here for 7 years! And hubby met a Malaysian Indian who has been here for 21 years, when he went golfing last Sunday.

What have we done or achieved in 3 years? Let’s see…

  • All of us can speak Thai, but my Thai is still very lame. :P
  • Hubby reads Thai, and that’s a great progress.
  • Kids have no problem making friends with both Thai and expats, but their English deteriorates, which brought us to transfer them to another school.
  • We have to move out from our house in a couple of months because our landlord is selling the house.
  • Both hubby and I are busy at work, and busy is good. :P
  • Our car is getting old too, and it’s time to renew the Car Insurance
  • We are not flying back home as much like we did.
  • We have a pet guinea pig named G Force!

But the most important thing now is to get a condo (by cash preferably) or find another house. That should be another milestone to make our 4th year in Thailand.

Lunch

I’m running out of idea where to bring my kids for lunch on working days, they just like to stick to a few of their favorite places and I’m getting geli of going in so frequently. Luckily, they won’t request those fattening fast food stores because I told them I don’t want to be fat and take myonox later.

I found just found out that school starts on 23 May. So, officially, there are 60 days to go before school starts!

Long School Break

I admit that the kids are driving me nuts during their long school break, but I got to spend more time with them and I should cherish these precious moments. When they are not fighting nor screaming on the top of their lungs, they are pretty good kids.

I try to get them to do some worksheets, and so far so good. Even if Isabelle keeps coming up with excuses of not finishing her work, but it’s still done by the end of the day. Hopefully, we can complete those workbooks I bought within this school break.

Once in a while, I will just sit by them and watch TV together. I try to get home earlier than letting the kids spend too much time at the office. They can surely tear the whole place down when they are bored.

Some times, we will talk about things, such as the latest catastrophe in Japan. It’s good to see that they are getting more matured and knowing more about what’s going on in the world. I also managed to ask Justin what’s his ambition, and guess what? He just wants to be a pet shop owner! LOL!

As for Isabelle, she changes her dreams all the time. But so far, she mentions being a veterinarian the most. Let’s see how things go when they have grown up.

Boiling

My high blood pressure days begin today, with the kids tagging along to work and driving me nuts. I am so easily agitated, but I’m trying my best to control my temper at the office. If not, everyone might get freaked out!

I’ve talked to the kids, they will be at home with the part time nanny when she’s coming in to clean the house. I won’t mind dirty floor nor oily kitchen faucets and tiles, as I know it’s not easy to handle 3 kids (hers is coming along too), and she’s heavily pregnant too. She will stop after this month, and will only continue after her confinement. Another headache for me as I need to handle the house chores alone or try to get another cleaner!

Ok, I will think about that later. At least the kids will be at home with her for 2 working days a week, and I can be more efficient on those days.

Vitamins

I stopped taking daily multi vitamin for some time but I don’t think hubby is taking it everyday too. That’s why the stocks are piling up again!!! Aiyo, we really have to finish them before expiry date, or maybe we can just give some away?

The only one who has discipline in taking vitamins is Justin. He remembers mostly, and he will take all that is needed. What a good boy. As for my gal, she will only take the chewable vitamin and that’s it! She doesn’t know how to swallow most pills and I better don’t let her try. She’s still too young for it.

The kids…

Hubby said I must blog these incidents down…

(1)

We were in the car this morning, on the way to the kids’ Chinese class…

Justin: Papa, your birthday coming? How old are you then?

Me: Papa will be 39. Very old hoh?

Justin: Papa is going to be 40…then 41, 42, 43, …..*keep counting, then he paused to think*

Justin: Mommy, when will it stop?

Me: O.o

Ironically, both hubby and I found his question very funny. LOL!

(2)

Our little Isabelle can be such as sweet gal mostly, but some times, we have vomit blood moments with her tactics. Don’t be fooled by her princess prom dresses and sweet smiley look, when she’s throwing her tantrums, we can really lose our patience. But instead of scolding her, it’s best to keep cool and lecture her calmly so that she won’t learn all those shouting from us. :P

When she did something wrong just now (I can’t remember what it was), hubby tried to teach her a lesson.

Hubby: Isabelle, you did something wrong. Now you have to stand outside of the house and count 1 to 10.

Isabelle: Where? Outside? Count 10.

As she’s walking out, she turned back and asked.

Isabelle: Can I come in again later?

Hubby: O.o LOL!

Me: So do you want to come in?

Isabelle: No. Not really. Let’s go play.

Hubby: *sweat*…

Shoes shoes shoes

Isabelle is born to be a shoe fetish. She loves shoes, and the first thing she checks out at the mall is normally shoes, then toys and then clothes. I stop her by buying shoes too often now as she is still growing pretty fast and there is no point wasting so much money on shoes that she might be only wear for a few months. Furthermore, she has a collection of shoes to choose from, most are not worn out before they are given away.

As for Justin, he only has boy school shoes, a pair of Crocs, a pair of Batman slippers, and 2 pairs of sport shoes. That’s all!!! Unlike his sister, he couldn’t care much about getting new shoes and clothes unless it’s needed.

Since all of us are sharing one small show rack, I’m controlling my urge of getting more shoes too. In fact, I hardly wear pretty shoes these days but mostly my FitFlop. That’s all I need. Sigh…I’m getting very silai. :P

Anyway, I might need to get the kids a new pair of shoes each for the coming Chinese New Year, even if we are not really celebrating one here. Buying shoes online won’t be hard too if you check out this tutorial:

As much as I prefer to shop at the malls (given that Bangkok is a shopping heaven), but I like to check things out online as well. Hey, you might find something interesting at cheaper price!!! So, why not?
