I like to wear red during the first 2 days of Chinese New Year, but I haven’t tried cheongsam or sam fu before. However, I like my kids to put on Chinese traditional clothes during CNY just to symbolize the occasion. I asked hubby to get these clothes when he’s working in China a few months ago, and he got for all the kids in the family. Anyway, it’s not hard to find these clothings here too as I’ve seen a few shops selling them as well.
Here they are in our traditional clothes:

I think most of us are back to hometowm to celebrate CNY by now.

So, I’m not sure if I will be blogging as I’m occupied for CNY celebration, busy with the helping MIL to prepare the food, taking care of the kids, packing ang pao!

Anyway…. :P

Happy Chinese New Year!!!!

I’ve almost forgot about it as I know I won’t be celebrating it this year. Hubby’s away, and not only for Valentine’s Day, I think we will miss out lots of festive celebration in the future.

To avoid disappointment of being “left out”, I’ve mentally erase this day off my mind! LOL!

But he SMS me at 12am, wishing me Happy Valentine’s Day. I thought he has forgotten, but he said “NOT YET“.

NOT YET??? What a unique reply…

Happy Valentine’s Day to everyone!

We were back to Penang to celebrate my dad’s birthday. No cake no celebration, but just a simple dinner out among us. There were 3 babies dragging along, where can have good dinner? :P

I told Justin to prepared a birthday card this morning before I went out, and asked Xin Yi to supervise him, just let him play with the colour pencils, scribble on the paper only. But when I was back, Xin Yi told me it’s done, and she nicely put the card in an envelope and there a box of presents. There were some folded stars on the box and envelope, and Justin said he sticked them on it.

When we reached Penang, I quickly asked Justin to pass the present to my dad. And while everyone was anticipated on what’s inside the envelope and box, they turned out to be Xin Yi and Li Wei’s art work, drawn and coloured by them, and written there by Xin Yi and Li Wei!!! Where’s Justin’s card? I asked him, he just kept quiet. :) I think his cousins must have thought that his card was too ugly, so they threw it away and did it for him! LOL!

It’s Hubby’s birthday last Friday, and as usual, we went out for dinner. It’s his big day, and he could choose where we’re going for dinner. Hubby picked Royal Perak Golf Club, and asked me not to buy birthday cake too. He probably wanted to have a low profile there. :)

The dinner was good, and after that, hubby and I went out with friends. Well, I don’t have to elaborate much about that. You can check out here and here.

I’m back from Penang already! Now, I could load all the photos from my camera and blog about them. Yippie!

2 days before New Year

Everyone in the family, except BIL#4 in Bangkok, was back in Ipoh, and we had a sushi feast at home! SIL#1 was the main chef, while SIL#2 and my maid were the helpers to prepare all those yummy good looking sushi! MIL prepared some salad and a bottle of red wain was prepared for toasting too.

Since we seldom gather together, and BIL#2 from Singapore won’t be back for CNY, the kids took photos together with gong gong and po po. This is one precious photo to the kids, and I’m not sure when will all of them be taking photos together again, mmm…., probably sometime this December, I guess. By then, they’ll look bigger and different already.

31 December 2006

FIL belanja all of us for lunch at Indulgence. I made a reservation of 16 persons, but on that day, 4 of the older kids didn’t follow as they rather watched TV at home, so our maid stayed back to watch them. Hubby and I insisted that Justin and Isabelle went along as Justin likes this place very much.

After lunch, we went back to Penang to catch a barbeque party at my brother’s place. On the way to Penang, Isabelle played peekaboo with daddy, who’s driving in front! Ok, I know it’s very dangerous, but daddy insisted on playing. *Slap head* She giggled a lot and was very happy playing with daddy. I took lots of photos of her smiling and giggling. Can see her teeth or not?

Oh ya, here’s a photo of Justin taken when he’s about the same age as Isabelle with the same post. So, do they look alike? Isabelle doesn’t have much hair huh?

Finally, we arrived at my brother’s place in the late evening. Justin wanted to swim first, but I didn’t let him as it’s too late and the water was cold. So, we makan instead.

We’re there to celebrate baby Elizabeth’s full moon in advance. She’s grown a lot, and looks exactly like my brother! Too bad I’ve forgotten to take her pictures. Never mind, I’ll do it next time.

We didn’t stay late at my brother’s place as Isabelle was too sleepy, so we rush back to my parents’ place and put the kids to sleep before proceed to Plan B– went count down to Year 2007 with a couple. Anyway, it’s nice to go pat toh again after so long….

1st January 2007

My grandpa was admitted to the hospital for a surgery a week ago, but I couldn’t make it to see him. So, we went to visit him at his place in Keday. Justin always likes to come here as he likes to look at the big juicy mangoes in the tree. My granny had reserved some for him, and nicely wrapped them in plastic bags to avoid them from getting spoilt. Hopefully they’re ripe by the time we are back next time.

Later in the evening, we went for dinner with some friends at Auto-City, Juru. The restaurants were crowded everywhere, and we had to wait a long time to get a table at Seoul Garden.

2nd January 2007

We went shopping at Queensbay today! Since we arrived early, it’s not crowded at all. We went for breakfast first at the food court, and Justin finished a plate of Hainan chicken rice meant for hubby all by himself! Thus, hubby got to buy another one. Justin insisted on eating by himself, and he created some mess. Luckily the cleaning kakak didn’t mind cleaning up his mess on the floor, and also praised him “pandainya, kecil kecil boleh makan sendiri”.

We got some clothes for me and the kids, thus also completed the shopping list for CNY. Justin bought some books too, and he was too tired, he fell asleep in his stroller. Since he’s not eating, hubby and I went for makan again at Laksa Shack. I’ve finally got to taste Sarawak Laksa again 2 months after our trip to Kuching! Missed that laksa so much! Hubby took Penang Laksa, which was also my favourite. BTW, the cendol was nice too, or maybe I was too hungry. :P

No doubt, I gained weight already!

When Justin woke up this morning, I asked him to check if Santa Clause came last night. He quickly stood up and open the curtain to look out of the window! He must have thought that Santa stopped by our roof top, which can be seen just from our windows! Ha! He’s so cute…

I told him to check out the sock, and see if there’s anything there. He happily told me that he got a robot and mei mei got a gingerbread from Santa! I guessed he believed my lie and didn’t suspect anything. :)

We spent some time playing with the new toys and listening to Christmas songs in the room before going for breakfast. It’s really quality time spent and I could see from their eyes that they’re very delighted with the toys, and Justin’s so happy that “Santa came”.

But if only daddy can be here, that will complete this Christmas…

Justin and Isabelle slept late tonight. Their cousins from Singapore arrived late, and they stay up playing together. But after 10.15pm, both of them were very tired, they wanted to go to bed instead. I told Justin Santa Clause aka Old Man will come and give both of them presents when they’re asleep.

So, after they’re asleep, I played the part of Santa, and put the toys in the sock for them.
Christmas present

This poem by Clement Clarke Moore is Justin’s favourite poem at the moment. We used to read this book together, and he loves it a lot. I got this picture from here.

Merry Christmas!

We went to KFC to celebrate Justin’s birthday a day earlier. It’s his first trip to KFC, pathetic huh? LOL!

He didn’t like it there as he didn’t like the chicken, mashed potatoes and coleslaw. He took some bread and fries, and was very anxious to cut his cake only. He’s been looking forward to the cake for a month! I took him to choose the designs, one teddy bear cake for last week, and an aeroplane cake for today.

Frankly, it’s a last minute eating out. We didn’t have a party as there’s an old relative just passed away, and some kids couldn’t make it. So, we did our celebration among our close family members only. But still, we enjoyed ourselves.

In short, Happy Birthday Justin….Mommy and Daddy Love You. Mei Mei loves you too! Muak Muak!!!

Even if Justin’s birthday is still a few days away, but we had a pre-2nd-birthday cake for him in Penang last weekend. My parents won’t be able to be here on the actual day, so we decided to have a mini cake cutting ceremony back in Penang instead.

Justin chose this design. Initially, he wanted a Barney on the cake, but I’ve forgotten to bring Barney’s photo to the cake shop. Then he agreed on getting a teddy bear on the cake, so here’s what it looks like.

See how “hiao” his smile this? LOL!

Mommy helped to cut the cake after blowing off the 2 candles. Quick, quick, mommy, I wanna eat the cake now!

Mmm….this chocolate layered cake tasted soooooo good!
